Anybody close to the Bedfordshire area where they have a completed Exocet locked away for winter that I could come and view over the Xmas break?

Some progress made over Christmas break. All suspension on now. Steering column and pedal assembly in after some fettling. Turns out bulkhead panel had bowed inwards somehow and caused us the problems. Moved onto other things...Hence more questions. Anyone have photos of their fuel setup single feed system and breather. Found pictures on internet of system but still slightly confused. Also fuel filter set ups? Have mk2 tombstone seats and found to day that after bending runner flat it is a tight fit and the adjuster sticks out side so panel will not fit. When roughly located there is no room to recline or move back. This is with the runners level and squared up on the rails. Tomorrow we move on to transmission tunnel and bulkhead pieces.

You may want to raise the front of the seat up a bit for comfort.. On Ebay in UK put in number 381787824963 in search box.. You could notch the side cover and install these to finish off the side panel. notch the scoop to go over the bar.. Looking really good buddy, I'm probably at the same stage as you now, have you mounted your tank directly onto the brackets or have you used anything to stand it off? Unclear from photos

Did you rotate the tank 180degrees - looks it from picture? Mounted directly on the brackets I found it sits slightly lower at the front so always some fuel not getting to the pump (might be completely normal?) Tried to raise the front end but no room under the cover. I'd suggest checking the tank cover fit before doing too much work on the tank position. I sent you pm as well.

Scott, I'm located near St Ives so not too far if you fancy nipping over at a weekend to take a look round it. I'm running a 1.6 turbo with Megasquirt ECU. You welcome anytime so just PM me when it suits you. Cheers iain

Have not been on here for a few days. In regards to tank it is currently just sat on the tabs and I have spun it 180. We really making an extra bracket extension so we can use the original holes on the tank. Yes I thought it could do with a slight angle but need to assess like you say, with the rear cover over the top. Although have just ordered some extra nuts and bolts we needed so we can focus on the suspension finishing so we can have it rolling.

Update as hasn't been one for a while. Not too much progress due to a few various things and parts holding up. Have made the bulkhead a good fit and also a wiring tray for ECU etc, template for seat brackets so we can remove recline mechanism that was causing issues. Removed one fuel line as I dont have a return. Worked out and ordered spacers, just waiting delivery. Stripped and rebuilt rear callipers so can get them fitted and finish brake lines. One question...Does anyone have a picture of how they have mounted seatbelt reel. Top or bottom hole as have the choice? Some pictures.

Bit of an update...no photos though I need to take some. All suspension done and brakes bled, now time to fit the handbrake. Need to find gwnwar guide. All sits on its own weight now and rolls out the garage. Filling with fluid and hopefully fire up this weekend. Seats done, bulkhead and transmission tunnel finally happy with fitment, rear bulkhead drilled and ready to bolt on as holes all tapped. One question I do have...? Has anyone who has used the standard belts be able to send/or point me in the direction of some photos on the mounting...seems like they won't fit in the corner brackets for the reels? Also how have people attached rubber fuel pipe to the standard quick release fittings? Convert to AN fittings? Cheers....photos to come this weekend .

If I understand right, you might want to skip the rubber and go with nylon. If you go the nylon route, in terms of getting quick release fittings in, there's some youtube videos, but basically two pieces of wood clamped together with about 10-15mm of tube sticking out (drill a hole where the wood comes together that will hold your tube), WD-40 the nylon, then with a rubber mallet tap the quick release into the nylon. The nylon will expand and very tightly hold your quick release. Either way, good luck, your build looks good.

I went for fitting the quick connects straight into rubber fuel hose. Been running several times now with no issues. Note, once you push the barb into the rubber hose its a nice tight fit and almost impossible to get back out by pulling even without a hose clip so make sure you trim hose to correct length first. mevowners.proboards.com/thread/7875/east-kilbride-build?page=4

Have managed to salvage my old connectors..good fit.
Did some plugging in of bits today and new battery...and she cranks over. Woohoo...good first start. Next problem though I don't seem to have any feed to fuel pump/fuel coming to the rail.
I don't have 12v but do have fuel gauge working on instruments..so earth must be okay as looking at wiring they share an earth.
Couldn't find fuse but doubt this is blown as was working when stripped then wires bundled and stored in a box for 6 months.
Also Haynes manual has no wiring diagram for fuel pump?
Any advice? Mk2.5 1.8vvt. anyone running the same engine?
Anybody have seatbelt pics still? As want to fit seats so want to fit these first as will be easier. Mainly orientation??
Photobucket not working..unable to update pictures at the mo.
Cheers

Glad it's at least cranking - you've probably already come across these diagrams, but just in case ... www.mellens.net/mazda/I don't have any pics of the seatbelt mounting to hand but it was pretty straightforward apart from making sure the belts not twisting anywhere. Which bit's causing an issue and I can do a pic when I'm next in the garage.

Check out my build - had similar issue although on 1.6 engine. Check all earths even if you don't think they are relevant on wiring diagram. It was fuel pump relay causing problem not getting 12v to fuel pump but bad earth at throttle body. Worth double checking.
