Hello, This week me and my dad have finally started the strip down of our MX-5 donor ready for the Exocet build. The donor is a 2001 1.8 NB Mx-5. It is currently stripped interior and wiring loom out. Just making room in the garage so we can put it on axle stands to get the wheels off and start disconnecting the last pieces before we split the body. hopefully I will have attached photos...... Both new to this so any help or extra guidance will be much appreciated. s1175.photobucket.com/user/scottrankin21/library/

Hey, looking forward to the updates. Perhaps put your donor spec in your 'signature' and update the owner locations map if you haven't already.

Ah good stuff eman, a local if help is required although according to the owners map there are 2 more between bedford and milton keynes.
Well no pictures at the moment as strip still continuing. Just need to get it on axle stands and unattach the brakes and h/brake cables then body will be ready to remove. Although moving house next qeek so time limited for a fortnight.
Although looking forward to a fortnight on friday as we have booked to go and see stuart at the factory and order our kiy hopefully.
Pictures will follow when I have access to proper internet at home and the thread will become more active hopefully.

Update,
Yes Gwnwar all axle nuts have been loosened.
Been a little while for an update but I have moved house and the strip was on hold. It has now started again and all that is left is to loosen body bolts and disconnect rear handbrake and brake pipes. Question... Whilst looking in the engine bay I noticed the ABS control unit...is this kept with the exocet build?
Also has anyone painted the frame in a different way to powdercoat? As we may add/want to personalize a few bits and powdercoat or even paint ourselves at a later date? (Just a thought)
After moving house I did sneak off on a Friday afternoon to meet Stuart at the workshop to look at some kits and all the options. Well happy to announce we are in the build queue with a deposit paid.
Hopefully I shall have a few more update and pictures more regularly once the body is off and the PPF strip and clean begins.....Plus have added pressure as the car needs to be road legal by July for a certain occasion.

Can keep the ABS but it will be set up for the heavier weight of the MX5. Many switch to standard - its certainly easier to bleed...

Yes I was thinking of getting rid of the ABS, in which case what do people do in regards to the abs pump and wiring?? As in fooling systems or getting systems to work properly with it not being plugged in??

Remove it all I believe. Indeed I believe the ABS sensor mount is used for something else anyway...
You might consider changing the master cylinder as well, but there is a thread on a work around for that anyway.

Easier said than done. I found the sensors to be absolute pigs to remove, with the bolt heads stripping, and even when cut off- almost impossible to pry off. Was told they were "pressed in", but they currently remain in situ.
