Well eBay screwed me over with that offer so didn't take the plunge.
Had a great day finished painting the gearbox and rear callipers...photos to come.
Do I need a new clutch? Donor 2.0l mk1 focus saloon did 99k, but clutch age unknown. There were no clutch issues driving the donor home...

The friction plate looks like it may have some life left as its not worn to the rivets you could out it back in or put a new clutch in so you dont have to change it at a later date

What's the lifespan on a clutch generally? I must admit to never having to have one changed. Wife's daily has done nearly 90k on one (Mazda 3 1.4l petrol).

Bit of Google suggests generally a lifespan of 50k -150k depending on driving style. I think this has twice the amount of wear left that Haynes suggests it's not worth putting back in due to the hassle of change v definitely change as worn out.
Given the above, and that I have my own crane, I think I'll stick with, then once on the road decide if I want to swap like for like or go for something racier when the time comes.
As ever, thanks guys.

We left out clutch in throughout our build and Iva and only recently changed it due to a bit of slippage

mawdo81, I've got a brand new standard 2.0 Zetec clutch (2 piece, plate and cover, no flywheel) in the garage somewhere (I bought the wrong one! I've got an ST170 engine, Doh!). I'd be happy with £10 plus postage for it to go into a MEV that can use it. PM me if you are interested and I'll find it and weigh it to see what the postage will be.
