Push to start would be cool. If you go that route, would be great to see how you manage it. The "cheap" systems ($20) seem to still require a key to be inserted, which IMO is pointless.... probably just need to do a better search on my part.

Sorry calibuild, a gimmicky low tech push button start which also requires the key I'm afraid. However, it does all work and can be swapped over as required: Also made some progress on fitting the cycle wings, have gone for the p clip solution as I prefer them to be removable/adjustable:

Remember to drill the fender brackets put in carter pins next to the P clips to stop any side motions if things loosen up. Just a what if thing happens..

Some progress on IVA-proofing the gaps between the front wheels and the chassis: I used 1.5mm ali sheet with 10mm diameter holes, took longer than expected as it's a pretty awkward shape: Major remaining jobs are: (i) replace failed water pump (ii) finish exhaust (iii) extend the top rear lights out a bit as when measuring the magic 400mm I forgot to allow for the cycle wings protruding outside the line of the wheels, oops! I like the panel for filling the wheel arch, I had been contemplating something similar.
With regards to the keyless entry, for IVA I think you would need the key anyway, you need the steering lock to work?

Panel came out great. You need to mass produce and sell.. You need to do something with the long red bolt for the bonnet locks cut and cap end..

Thanks guys.
Mikeyboy, you are right, you need the steering lock (or a suitable alternative). When the start button system is connected I still need to put the key in and turn 2 notches to release the steering lock and engage the ACC, IG1 and IG2 circuits.
Gwnwar, yes, I've got to do a final adjustment on the bonnet lock then tighten, shorten and cap the bolt. On the driver's side the bolt has actually turned out to be 'inside' the panel - that side is even more awkward because of the pedal box and brake servo!

Quick question. Can anyone tell me what this pipe is for and do I need it? It goes from the exhaust round to the inlet manifold. It's a 1.8 from 1997. Many thanks Tim

That is the EGR pipe - takes a portion of exhaust gas through to the EGR valve on the back end of the inlet plenum... can take you pics of my ‘98 NA if you need any more info...

Many thanks for that, Browno. Having done some digging around, I see that some people remove it and others don't.
