Thanks for the heads up on the fuel lines guys. Will definitely check this out before bolting the chassis on.
The fuel brackets were from Car Builder Solutions, not a cheap option but seemed quite neat given the space constraints. I've used 25mm M4 bolts into c/s rivnuts as the supplied bolts are too short. I will also need to wrap the brake pipe as its only 6mm in an 8mm hole.

Just a PS on the fuel hose not fitting between tank edge and tank cover ... I tried sitting the cover as far forward as possible in the hope it'd make enough of a gap ... it didn't ... so site your cover however you prefer it.

Hi guys Quick question: Does anyone have any pics of how you have routed your handbrake cables, particularly the nearside one which seems a bit long (yes I have got them the right way round ) Has anyone managed to reuse the odd shaped brackets on the cables or did you just cut them off? Thanks Tim

I don't have any pictures to hand, but I used a couple of the fixed brackets to attach the cable to the subframe. I did find one slightly longer than the other when routing but by adjusting at each end we sorted it

One last piece is mounting the rear parking brake cables. FM sends you NC cables with their little big brake kit. They have these clips on them. Some clever placement of a couple riv nuts and they are cleanly mounted. I need to get a couple washers but you see the idea. They mount perfectly on the square tubes and thankfully I didn't have to lower the rear subframe to drill the holes! Now to source a grommet for the 1.25" holes for the cables in the tunnel.

Quick update on progress: Have completed the rear brake lines; made a small bracket (from one of the brackets holding the soft top on the donor!) to hold the splitter block securely: Also dispensed with the seat incline adjusters in order to made enough room to get the seats right back (thanks for whoever's idea on here I copied) and replaced them with 4mm mild steel fixed brackets: Have also sorted handbrake cables by reforming the old brackets on the cables and attaching them to the rear subframe, pic to follow. Next job is to tackle the steering column and pedals. Tim

Help/advice please! Tried fitting the steering column this morning, this was the result: The fixing bracket is about 4 or 5 cm away from the mount. I can slide the tube up to align them but then I don't have enough nut protruding at the top to attach the steering wheel. Should I just bend the top bracket (or make a new one) or am I doing something wrong? Many thanks Tim

The steering shaft may have collapsed. It's like a telescope. You should be able to extend it back out.

Timbo, if you have a collapsed steering column I have a spare column

Thanks guys. I'll have a go at un-collapsing it next week. If I don't have any joy, I'll be in touch Ade

Have sorted the steering column problem via a replacement. Lesson 1: Engage brain before using lump hammer on a collapsible steering column Handbrake now installed and working: Have bolted it to tunnel rather than use rivnuts, may upgrade at a later stage. There is just enough room to get your hand to the back of the bolts although I had to remove the cat first. Then re-assembled clutch slave cylinder: Removed the flexi hose and circular fixed pipe (why was this there??). Then went on to the pedals: Managed to use the left hand bolt on the steering grommet to attach the brake lines on the other side. Pedals went in ok until I ran out of M8 bolts. Lesson 2! So started having a look at the seats - what size/length bolts have people used to attach to the floor? Do they need to be a specific grade? And a couple of questions about the bonnet and nose-cone: Where eaxctly should the rear edge of the bonnet line up with? And where should the nose cone line up with? Does it overlap the end of the chassis rail or sit exactly flush? Many thanks Tim

Update: Seat belts now in: Used a bit of ally tube as a spacer to keep the seat belt mechanism vertical in order to be able to pull the belt. Used mostly 8.8 bolts with a couple of 10.9's as well. Brake pipes all in now: Made a long thin bracket out of left-over flooring, which attaches to one of the bolts which holds the master cylinder on, to secure the front off-side pipe which I have pretty much run straight up from the mounting point on the chassis. Took quite a while to find the best location for this mounting point in order that the pipe doesn't foul on full lock. Fuel tank is pretty much mounted and cover has been shaped. Have now started on the front bulkhead... Tim

Trial fitting of the front bulkhead panels: I have angled the piece behind the pedals to give a bit more clearance. I also left a bit on the RH edge which I then folded up to cover the gap which would otherwise be visible side on. Still some fettling to do but its getting there slowly...
