Something I'll need to check over once back from powder coaters, thanks for the torque numbers.
Another weekend from home so no progress again! Hopefully get some work done this week!

I felt really bad not doing any work on the car in the last few weekends so decided to get the old bushes out of the drop links. So I lit the fire, sat back, 15 mins later job done! Get them blasted then sent to the powder coaters this week hopefully.

Ok not much been happening this week, wishbones and antiroll bars are at the powder coaters, hopefully picking them up tomorrow.
Had to buy a new (second hand) fuel tank as mine was leaking. Only £20, but I've just realised there is no fuel pump/fuel sender with it. I have got the one from my donor but mine is a mk1 and the replacent is a mk2. I haven't done any checking but from the pics they look different. Are they? And if so is the fuel pump/sender at least the same? If not I'll have to get a new one.
Also bought some new alignment bolts, really expensive but mine got destroyed in the strip down! Hopefully everything will be here tomorrow so I can have a productive weekend!

So after such a busy weekend not a great deal to show for it! Picked up the wishbones and anti roll bars from the powder coaters on Friday and set about installing the bushes. All the bushes were done with the exception of the metal sleeves which my vice wouldn't open wide enough to press in! So a trip to the in laws to use his bigger vice! All the uppers went in with no problems! But even his vice wasn't big enough! So late Friday evening I dropped into screwfix to buy a 8inch woodworking vice! Sunday was supposed to be a quick mornings work of pressing the last few sleeves in then bolting them in place -hah! - for some reason the sleeves won't go into the lower arms? So need to work on that. The front upper arm went in to problems but the rears weren't as cooperative! But after a couple of hours of squeezing and pressing and wriggling and fettleing they were finally in place, bolted the near side upright in place to make it look the part! Very pleased with how the arms look, just such a pig of a job which still isn't finished!

Have you tried a large "C" clamp secured in your vice. Or a long bolt with large washer under the head of bolt on the bushing side and washer under nut then screw together.. Also chaffer the sharp edge of the sleeve just a little so it will go in.. Liquid soap helps.. Set up looks good..

Tried the C clamp with no joy, try giving the long bolt a go, I did take a slight edge off the sleeve. Will keep at it. Yeah I'm happy with the look, just been trying not to damage the powder coating when throwing them around the garage!

Mine came with some very sticky grease which seemed to help. You could try warming the arms up in a oven (a low heat will expand the bush housings without dam ageing the powder coating). And try placing the bushes in a freezer. Good luck as others have said the arms look very nice.
Good luck and keep us posted.

The bushes are already in the arms it's just the metal sleeves I can't get in. Could I put the arms in the oven with the bushes already in or would this damage the bushes? The other option is take them to a garage with a hydraulic press and get them squeezed in!

Just seen the pics, looking good. Confused re the bushes, sounds like you are installing in pieces rather than as complete units. I wouldn't heat arms with bushes in place but I'm not an expert. The long threaded bar washers and nuts has always worked for me, I've also used an hydraulic car jack and v large section of rsj and pushing within I section flanges.

You're right I did put them in pieces, thinking that was a mistake now! I'm having one more attempt tomorrow then I'll try the threaded bar method which seems popular!

Ok bushes are finally in! One of those jobs I'm glad is over but I suppose that's what I get for getting the wishbones fabricated, they were never gonna be 100% identical! Oh well done now! Will put them on sub frame and take some snaps tomoz hopefully!

Ok all but one wishbones are fitted (one just needs a bigger hole drilling) looking so smart now really pleased with them! One issue I've got is the rose joints are attached by a threaded insert on the end of the wishbone arm which for some reason the rose joint won't thread into anymore. Plan is to re tap the thread. Need to identify the thread size. Also need to get new bolts for the front uprights, and new lowers for the rear uprights. Anyway picture time ! Front left just needing longer bolts. Front right needing bolts and upper finishing Rear right upright replacement in post Rear left just needing lower bolt A very pleasing day, made even better by the fact I got selected for promotion at work! Wishbones looking really good. I would just check the clearance between the front top wishbone rose joint and the wing stays if you have them. On my standard build the stays seem to touch/rub at this point. Not sure the best answer, just thought I would mention it.
