Shaun,
Firstly, Great that you have asked for other opinions. I spend a lot of time on my 'good ideas' only to have Luke say ' no, that doesn't work for me'. A 3rd party view is a good reference point.
Also nice to see others suggestions.
At the end of the day you have a IVA compliant solution! If you change it , I'm sure it will only get better.

I did think about this, I think if I go that route I might use round section to match the rear light mounts. My only concern was getting access in side to bolt up the headlight and also to fix the load resistor for the led indicator, might be ok though. Shaun

I was tempted to leave the drl unit off for IVA and then once on the road take my time in moulding something from fibreglass/carbon fibre, but I'm in no rush so gonna get it right first time! Hopefully! Shaun

Hi Shaun. I will post some fotos of the aerofoil later. I have measured it and it may just work. Have you seen the mod for the LED indicators where you just change one resistor in the flasher unit for all indicators? I will try and find the link. It's from one of the Miata sites. I plan on doing it with mine.

Colin Thanks, I haven't seen the flasher mod, have already got the two resistors for front indicators so will just use them, all other indicators will be normal bulbs Shaun

Hi Shaun, Here are some fotos of the aerofoil section. This is just a short damaged section I have on my desk at work. The area behind the centre wall is 17mm. I have a 17mm square aluminium bar and it fits in there perfectly. The Steel D section you found looks good though. Colin

My only concern would be how the LEDs would fit/look on the leading edge. Looks quite a sharp radius.

Only jumping in half way into this chaps but the lens would look great set 'into' the aero section using the rib as mounting/backing plate and grinding the front face back as far as required to sit flush around the lights (with the appropriate edging strip/seal).

Ok today I finally got on with the front light mounts, really happy how they turned out. Once I've got a few more things sorted I'll send them out to powder coaters. Will get a decent head on shot when it's back on its wheels so I can move it back. Shaun

Now that looks far better than your first attempt
To quote yourself "1st attempt is always a rushed and excited mess, followed by anger and disappointment when it all goes wrong......... will I ever learn?"
You have learnt..
