One other thought - make sure none of the female connectors have got loose while you were plugging/unplugging or probing.

I'm no expert ….BUT… I seem to remember reading a threat ages ago… may be a couple of years ago where someone couldn't start their car.. can't remember which threats or who's build, but it turned out, if memory serves me right that two plugs were in the wrong connectors.
The plugs were the one that plugs into the ignition and the one that plugs into the indicator stalk switch etc. I think they are both a 6 or 8 pin connection and they can easily get plugged into the wrong one. Might be totally wrong but I remember reading something about these connectors being able to plug into the wrong female socket by mistake and causing the car not to start despite showing lights on the dash.
Can't wait to fit my electrics when the time comes… really looking forward to it…NOT. Good luck and I hope you find the problem and solution soon.

I wish it was something as simple as that! Defo got the right plugs to ignition (larger wires, correct colours, supplied direct from 80amp fuse). Not checked rear loom again yet will try to get in garage later on today!

There are 2 connectors just on the inside of the fire wall coming from the engine compartment that are the same size and can be switched..

Camshaft angle sensor replacement didn't solve anything, I've been rechecking over everything looking for something I've missed. Still unable to find anything I moved on to other things.
Started fitting the front wing stays, very simple with the new style which simply bolt onto the three dust cover bolt holes. Just put some washers in between the wingstay and upright to give enough clearance with the upper wishbone
Pics to follow

Went to install a replacement fuel pump as mine was quite corroded and very sluggish in operation. The replacement seemed too long to fit in position and also came with a small piece of rubber fuel hose. Have I been sent the wrong one or are there two different styles of pumps fitted to different age cars.
I've contacted the seller but am interested to see what people think.

How much longer is it??? pic.. As far as I know there is only one pump.. even the high flow pumps are the same.. pump should come with a new "O" ring, spacer to seal the pump to the tube to the engine.Did it come with a new filter sock too. Pump must be held up by bracket on bottom of pump.. You may have gotten a 1 size fits all unit with hose instead of "O" ring. After you have installed new pump to pump/gage unit and before reinstalling it all.. blow through the pipe the pump is attached to.. NO air should flow.. if it does the check valve is stuck open..shake the unit and recheck..

Old vs new It's got a new everything but as you can see it's longer and has a plastic tubing end which I assume the hose would go on but definetley no way it would sit flush onto the pickup pipe. I've spoken to the seller who has told me it is a different fuel pump, and yet still sold it as being compatible with the standard mx5 fuel set up. So will be sending that back and getting a refund me thinks.

How did you get the old pump off without removing the lower bracket.. Were is the outlet nipple for the old pump it that it stuck in the cone shaped tube.. If so pull it out should have an "O" ring on it..Pump doesn't look that much longer.. did new pump come with an "O" ring and sock filter.. Remove low bracket to put pump on..Put some oil on "O" ring before installing pump.

Ahh I think that's where the confusion has come from then. I thought the old one didn't have the outlet nipple!
Try again tonight!

Ok back to the no spark problem and after going through every wire again I realised I had the igniters condenser and solenoid purge valve plugged into each other!!!!!
But now I think I might have blown the igniter because of this???
My battery was a bit low when I tried to start it so it's charging now and I'll try again later but still think this could be the cause!

Well after quite a few months off due to health and money problems I've finally got back into the garage and back to work on the car!
Still no spark unfortunately but I'm gonna get it cracked this week!!! (Fingers crossed)
Since my last post the only major work I've done is trimming the rear tub to sit over the rear shock mounts and mounting the rear lights. I'm hoping after a long period away from it I'll have lots of drive and enthusiasm to get things done!
