Now that I think about it, the missing connector is probably cruise control.

So my Racing Beat intake doesn't quite fit in the engine bay. Have to look for alternatives now.

How essential is the IAT sensor? If I remove it, what are the implications?

That sensor is needed for air temperature correction in the ECU. Take it out and the motor probably won't run correctly.

I took the metal peace out. I'm going to make a hole in the plastic intake where the second elbow is and put the sensor there.

Didn't get as much done this weekend as I was planning to because I was playing with my new DD . Got a really good deal on it used but only 5K miles on the odometer.

So it has been a while since I have updated. Had to work on two cars at the same time. I was getting ready to get rid of my GTI, and Carmax told me that the only way they can give me decent money if I return it back to stock. So I swapped the rear springs back to stock. The car looks very funky now Front suspension is a pain, but this weekend I had few people come out and test drive the car. So now I have to put back to VWR springs. At least the car will go to someone who will appreciate the performance upgrades.

So I picked up the bodywork on Friday. I was a little nervous driving home with this thing in my trailer, but we made it home safe (driving 45mph the entire way). Did a few mandatory shots with the bodywork on . The color looks gorgeous in person. Exactly what I was looking for. On the flipside, I was entirely happy with the work Downing did on the bodywork. Fenders especially had many issues. I am working with Kevin to get those addressed. The I went on to installing the steering wheel. Looking at the clockspring setup and cracking it open, I realized that I wouldn't be able to have setup cleanly, so I went on without it. I took a strip of spring steel and bent it enough to make contact with the back of the hub adapter. It seems to make very good contact and is less cluttered. Let see how it holds up. The only thing that is still outstanding before I am able to fire up the car is the cooling. I have just ordered a new coolant reservoir from Amazon, and still have to figure out how to bend the Exomotive rad mounts to make it work with my radiator. Getting really close.

I know it is a pro/con situation, but I'm jealous of how much room you have on the bottom side of your tunnel for a catalytic converter! I cannot see ANY way to get one in on my 'narrow tunnel' s/n 110 chassis. Guess it is going to be a 'test pipe' based setup for me.
Your contactor solution is REAL similar to what I did, only real difference is I used a spare hairclip from my daughter's "stash" of stuff. Seems to work just fine.

My concern with a wide tunnel, is that the seat will be off center compare to the steering wheel, so it is a mixed bag.

I have been away for a while (medical stuff - ready to rock now). WOW! You have made great progress, I LOVE THAT COLOR!! What a MEGA head turner! Any more thoughts on the Maryland inspection?

I am glad to hear are well now. I haven't spend much time thinking about the inspection. I am pretty much sure I'll fail on the first time. I'll just get a written list of things I need to fix and come back again. Haven't had too much time to spend of the build lately, maybe a few hours a week if I am lucky. Wrapping up a radiator now, and then should be able to start it for the first time. I should be in the garage this Saturday, you are welcome to stop by.

It has been a while since I have posted. I have been spinning wheels a lot. It took me a while to figure out radiator mounted. Finally, mounted and connected the radiator. Filled the cooling fluid. Bled the brakes and clutch. Connected the tank. Everything seems ready to try turning the car on. I checked all the ground points. As soon as I connected the battery, I heard two of the relays on the passenger front click. Not sure if that is supposed to happen or not. Just on case, here is the picture: Anyway, tried to start the car and nothing happened. Well, not a complete nothing. The lights come on on the instrument cluster. I hear come relay clicking, but the starter is not making any noise . I guess, I have a bright future ahead of me or printing out the wiring diagrams and tracing everything to make sure. UGH.

I hope that your wiring issue is something simple. Been there myself I forgot to plug my neutral safety back in on the clutch pedal, I had to check the start system twice. I overlooked it. Good luck.
Love the orange panels they look great.

I can't recall at the moment the plug on the left but the plug on the right are your headlights.
