I flat bed trailered the car home. Just went for a ride around the block real quick and the steering wheel came loose. Lucky I didn't get any real speed going.
I have a spec Miata guy who bought my driveshaft that really wants the block and head. He's not interested in any of the parts I need. He has a good condition set of 5 point harnesses (schroth) he is willing to trade. Or cash if I make him an offer.
The motor has ok not good compression 150-160 across the board and burns oil like a mother so it's not in good running condition so someone looking for a block and head in 1.6 may be my best bet. What do you guys think the motor is worth once I strip it of the parts I need for the 1.8 swap?

Check the date of the harnesses if out of date you might not get on a track.. Are they latch and link or twist to release.. Head with cams and gears 150>200.. BNC shaft with oil pump, gear and pulley in good condition 200 with or without block. pistons and rods what ever you can get..

He said they are fine with the age for non competition track days at the track. He is heavy into the local spec Miata scene one of the main guys. He has some other parts as well I'm looking into.

Brent.. Did you cut off boss that the ABS sensor would bolt to on the rear uprights?? I see you have ABS rings on the axles.. Unless they have changed the rear fender mount brackets, you will need that boss to mount the bracket to..It would get drilled for a bolt.. Some Early NAs did not have the boss on the uprights so you would have to weld a tab onto or get uprights with the boss..

I couldn't find a new CV axle that didn't have the abs ring at a decent price so I got one with the ring and decided not to pop it off for now. So it's just there added weight for the time being

Brent.. In your pic of rear upright I don't see the tap/boss on it to drill to hold the rear fender brackets in place. The rear hole you must drill into it.. Might just be my old eyes..

Not sure of the piece you are talking about. Do you have a picture? Doesn't matter because I'm not running fenders or at least that's the plan. But I would like to know the piece you are talking about.
