I have actually put small rubber pads between tank and chassis so I will earth mine. Thanks again for he advice chaps as always. Richie, agree that's the way to do it. If you look at the photo of my tank in my previous response you will see the the rubber under the tank mounts and the nicely labelled earth (IVA man liked that).

Yeah I thought the same I will take a not from the aircraft world and use Blue earthing compound to protect and distinguish the earth connectors, sure IVA man will like that.

A random one. Realised today that the rear most of my front subframe has been cut off and the bolts that would go through the floor and the chassis into the inside of the car. Is this normal and acceptable or should I get a new subframe I have 6 bolts now only on the front subframe. Advice please, I will get pictures tomorrow.

Just weld some tabs on. There is another bolt extremely close to there.

Mounting the radiator today, top mounts complete and the bottoms I'm going to do some blacksmith work and bend some 3mm steel into a z shaped bracket and either weld on rivnut into the chassis

2 questions today.
I have come across a small issue when looking at the water hoses, I have a mk2 1.6 and I didn't strip the engine. I have attached a hose from the bottom of the thermostat to the intake manifold but then it looks like there is no outlet to the manifold. Any ideas please?? Pic of inlet pipe below.
Also could this be blanked of and removed do I need to heat the inlet as I would presume colder denser air would be better for combustion anyway?

No water goes into intake manifold its self.. The water inlet/port you are talking about in pic is it the one across the top of your finger pointing towards cam cover.. That looks like a vac port. put a small length of hose to it and blow through it see if it comes out behind the throttle body. Do you have a water cooler for the oil filter?? it gets water from rear of head and thermo housing.

It's the green hose that I am pointing too gwnwar. This comes from. The thermostat but I might have attached it to the wrong place I have been googling engine images and seen where everything connects not so easy when I didn't take it apart. Had no hoses on the engine at all the small silver stump can be blanked think it is to do with charcoal cannister which has been binned.

There isn't a water cooler no. The only other image I have found shows a pipe around the back of the intake and on mine this is just an open hole

Wheredoes the other end of the egr go to then? This would be so much easier if I had striped the engine.
