A white board in the shop is good.. if things come to mind as working you might forget later to add. At my age it helps..

I noticed another kit using marine/waterproof carpet on the interior. Not sure about that you could get water trapped, I'm going to go for a coating of some kind on all interior panels or I'm Thinking of getting some carbon fibre ones made up....

Good luck with the carbon ones, Lots of £££'s and you do need some specialist kit to get good quality strong panels. I made my own carbon side panels which was good fun and involved learning a new skill. However I used carbon effect covering for the floor as it was more cost effect. and a comparison of the covered floor vs real carbon (rear panel)

I have just found upol raptor spray kits on eBay a truck bed liner, this looks like a good look for the inside I might give it a trial on some spare aluminium and attack it see how it holds up. Carbon panels look great too good job.

So after spending several hours reading jgilbertjgilbert's build thread with much drooling and envy, (non of the photos would load after about page 16 sadly) I have decided to get my car on the road ASAP spend the summer enjoying it then strip it completely apart again and do all the things I want to do to make it my own and get things re painted and powder coated as corrosion is already rearing its ugly head again.

I actually viewed this part complete Exocet. Glad it went to a good home.
There did not look to be many jobs to finish on it?
You could always get your own donor wishbones etc powder coated and swap them for the ones on the Exocet? I take it those are the corroding ones?

Why didn't you go for it in the end? In my eyes it was a bargain price. I just want to build my own so I will be happy to start again. I have just scrapped the rolling PPF that I already had.

It would have saved me some money but that's not what I was after. I already had a donor and after seeing it just decided I wanted to do everything from scratch 100% my own way.
You will be finished a lot faster than me!

I have a wheels question, the guide says 16's but I have read another post and Stuart says 15's I think. What is best, and I have spacers on the car with stock wheels but I can get the wheels in want in the correct offset for no spacers but not sure they will look right, any suggestions and advice please. The wheels are team dynamics pro race 1.2

If you want to run without spaces need to use a et15 wheel 15 inch I would say is perfect for a mx5. There aren't many et15 wheels out there most use et30 or above for cost etc.
When I built my exocet used standard offset wheels so got a set of 30mm spaces now run et35 alloys and still use the same spacers without issues.

I run some of Freaky Parts 28mm spacers with a ET42 on 15" rim. They seem to work well with the wheel arches and in my opinion fill them nicely. Cheers Iain
