Hi all, will post some images etc of my progress as soon as I figure how that part works.....
Unpacked my create from SVE and everything looked fine, unfortunately some pretty bad scrapes on the roll hoop supports, but nothing that a bit of touch up wont fix.
Have fitted all of the suspension, rotors, brakes and steering and are now going through all of the remaining components to figure out what has not been sent in the kit. SVE have neglected to send any of the brake or clutch master cylinders and I also do not have any of the differential mounting parts do to what appears to be a misunderstanding between SVE and I as I did not order the Quaife (due to me reusing my existing Quaife from my Formula Libre) but SVE have taken this as meaning no rear drive components, so I want to be sure about what else might be missing.
Bigest problem for me know is that without the differential being mounted I cannot determine the final location for the ZX12 power plant inside the chassis which in turn allows me to modify the engine mounts to suit. Which in turn stalls the work on fitting the floor.........
So, for the moment everything is in a holding pattern until I can get in contact with SVE and sort out the problems, here's hoping it wont take too long!

Not sure how comprehensive a kit you ordered but my Rocket kit was supposed to include everything, still makes me laugh when I read that.
I see they gave not learnt then!

I ordered the "kit in a box" excluding the Quaife and wheels and tires (excluding the wheels and tires dropped the import duty to 5% instead of 20%). I up spec'd the brakes as well but it appears I have been sent the cross drilled rear discs and what I will assume is the standard front discs, so along with the missing master cylinders and diff mounting plates I have some work to do with SVE to get the build back on track I suppose. You asked in the introduction thread about chassis changes, I have not considered anything as this is a pure track day car only (not even going to attempt registration here in the "nanny state", they would just laugh me out of the building....), so I will be adding a larger under floor section and also constructing a rear diffuser and front splitter to try and increase the down force. I will also be mounting the radiator on the RHS rear and oil cooler on the opposite side.

Import duty? Is this in addition to GST?
I had a fine time with GST as I paid it on the value and contents of the "box", when major items that were missing were then sent on I had to explain how I had already paid the GST and was not paying again.

Just having a close look at that chassis, I was expecting all sorts of extra tubes to beef up the chassis strength for Ozy rules like they did on the Rocket.
I can imagine the cost of the report to get it on the road and see why you are sticking to the track.
One thing I am curious about though is that you appear to have a "crumple zone" for the engine, what stops the back end pushing and twisting on those bends at the front of the engine bay? It almost looks like it should have a couple of diagonals bracing to the centre front to triangulate the structure.

yeh, we have to pay import duty on imports that go via customs, ie a shipping container. Cars are generally 20%. but assorted goods (kit car in pieces...) only attract 5%, then GST on the total invoice value like you. Im going to be having the same arguments over the additional parts i'm sure (once I can get onto SVE that is..)

Interesting, I am afraid to say it does have 2 tubes missing, torsional rigidity will be seriously reduced without them. My original design had a cross tube between the 2 bends seen in the picture below. I understand this tube was cut out to clear the engine or oil filter or exhaust or something so I changed the design to include 2 diagonals as shown below in red. They work very well and tie nicely to the centre line tube.

Thanks for the input Stuart, clearly you have saved me here as this chassis is for pure track work only and I would have have been very disappointed indeed. Do you have any other suggestions for my intended purpose before I get too much further down the assembly track?

Stuart, you might want to let Slugshot know about this also, i checked the images of his chassis and it also appears to be missing the torsional braces as well from what I can see.

for racing in the UK we use CDS tube for the roll bar and rear stays and only have 2 bends. Track days permit M for MEV style hoops like the one you have fitted and they do offer a level of protection. You will have a great car when it's completed but if you wish to improve the structure further you may consider adding diagonal bracing tubes to the floor of the occupant area which otherwise relies upon the floor itself.

If you want to go beyond track days you will more than likely have to have certified roll bar, depends on local rules.
To go beyond Clubsport Basic we have to fitted approved roll bars, the hoop style is not approved.
I also found other issues if I wanted to compete in certain events such as hill climbs.
However I like the shape of the hoop and realistically I am going to be a participant in events, not a front runner.
I solved the problem with a removable two part cage, this has been approved.
If you are not going on the road though it might be worth changing now if required.
