Plodding along with electrics - had to add some front end LED bling....

Got the horn working too, which although seemingly trivial was quite rewarding.  A Frankenstein moment....it has eyes ! it can speak ! slowly it wakes !

Why plexiglass over lexan? That stuff can shatter, and it burns!

Hi, didn't think of (or even know about) lexan which shows how little I know about plastic ...;-)  local hardware store is also, shall we say, basic.

well, things exocet have been a bit slow over Xmas with a 3 wk trip back to UK and plenty of good surf in between. Despite the distractions, I have made some progress and attempted engine start today (unsuccessful, of course !).  Amusing footage captures the moment (including starting in gear !). Well, been delayed due to property restoration, but spent last week on dashboard.

Right, 6 months between posts, got a bit of catching up to do...side project (sons drift trike...)

Seats in with a relatively minor amount of swearing and awkward opening of holes to align various bolts and runners...

OK, 18 months in and we have a rolling chassis, operational electrics, running engine and body work complete.

Main to do list as of 12-09-16

- tidy up engine bay electrics

- hook up all remaining lights

- attach wheel guards

- resolve wheel bearing issues (donor car crash legacy)

- perspex screen

- clutch hydraulics and bleed

- final brakes bleed

- rear diff oil change

- engine flush and oil change

- finalise harness points

- lots of other minor fixes, tweaks, paint touch ups

Rego by Christmas looks possible.

Hi everyone
I am optimistinc about getting on the road by Christmas 2016-2017 but am having issues findingmy way through the maze of the Australian registration process.

Exocet supplier has gone out of business and the original certifier is non-responsive.

It looks like I have to start the process from scratch which is potentially expensive as vehicle 'type' data such as beaming + torsion test information is quite expensive to obtain on a one-off basis. Relevant test data is needed to comply with the requirements set out in infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx

Does anyone know if this test information available is available from MEV, Exomotive, Australian or New Zealand certifiers or any other source

I am happy to pay a licensing fee if anyone can make relevant data available on a cost effective basis.

Hi Phil
Glad to be able to help on this. Just noticed you're running harnesses. I'm pretty sure that the ADR says you have to have a retractable seat belt so you may want to check with your engineer ( this is what mine has told me anyway) also if you do have a harness it cant use the same mounts as the 3point retractable harness.
You also might need to check if you can use quick release steering on the road. I was told no but check with your engineer

Hope to see it on the road soon. I'll let you know how I go. Final engineering inspection on the week of the 24th
