Wow, the team made quick work of that. The blue bodywork also looks fantastic. Congrats on everything. Do you plan to turbo this? You mentioned doing something to the motor.

Great pictures!!! Love the work you have done. I hope my Exocet looks half as good as yours when done. Keep up the good work! Robert

Here is the spec of the engine build.
All new bottom end bearings, Eagle rods new CP Pistons 9.5:1. Engine block decked to meet pistons making 10:1 compression with all work. Cylinder head milled, matched, ported, over sized valves, new SS valves, new springs and keepers. All new ARP studs. Custom built cam shafts medium rise long duration profile more like what I would run in a Diesel engine build. Custom built ultra low impedance fuel injectors 750cc delivery. High pressure oil pump. New water pump/ gates belts. Fab9's coil on plug conversion with IK22 plugs. MegaSquirtPNP gen 2.
Estimated 165 HP naturally aspirated. Will run NA for now.
Considering installing Jenvey ITB or FastForward Supercharger next.
Jenvey would make 185-205 hp FastForward would make 215-245 on 6 lbs of boost.

That is a lot of money and engine work for that horse power. My miata '99 OEM engine with a M62 supercharge, power card and large fuel pump is at 190HP on the dyno. with a big throttle body 220..this all at 7psi boost. If you are going over 250 HP then work on engine..Why not just a LS engine..

The engine build so far cost less than half of a M62 setup. I am looking for reliable horsepower. Personally I am not a fan of the LS engine. To be honest this will be my first gasoline car in over 15 years.

Edit: never mind. Saw your post in the Exocet wheels thread. 38mm spacer to bring the rims to 0 offset.

Are you saying that your awesome engine build cost $1,000-1,250 (half of what I paid for my MP62 kit last month)? I may do something like that for that price. I always thought that sort of thing cost a lot more. Personally I am not a fan of the LS engine. If money was no object, I'd still be driving my C6 on the track and I would never have heard of the Exocet. That's how much like the LS family :-)

I'm guessing it may be posted elsewhere, but what brand did you go with on spacers? Considering doing the same thing, my current wheel stock is big enough that I'd rather go the spacer route for a bit and pick up some true 0 offset wheels after the build is done.

If money was no object, I'd still be driving my C6 on the track and I would never have heard of the Exocet. That's how much like the LS family :-) In the cost of the build I did not factor in what the machine shop fees would have been. That part of the build was traded off. The internal parts were right at $1150 not counting the custom ground cam shafts. Also didn't factor in any of the general service parts that you would install on a maintenance service. Like the water pump, timing belt parts, service fluids, spark plugs filter ect. If you install the engine internals yourself that is the big money saver. Engine builds are all about the labor price. I based the price of the build on doing the work myself. I build and service MAN Marine Diesel Engines for a living. Building a miata engine would be easy if I had the extra time to do the work myself. With the machine shop fees added in the build would be close to the price of MP62 kit. I stand corrected. As to the point of not being a fan of the LS engine. I love the Chevrolet Product. I just prefer the old school engines, my first V-8 was a 1962 327 from a Corvette in stalled in my uncle's old 1956 Chevy. There is something to be said for an engine that only has 12 wires on it.

I mentioned the spacers in this thread. I ordered the spacers from an ebay shop. There is a lot of useful info about the wheel setups here. mevowners.proboards.com/thread/6004/exocet-wheels

Wish me luck, going to try installing brakes tomorrow morning. Have no copper seals for the hollow screws on the calipers. going to try some metalelastic seals from work instead. This will be interesting to say the least. Using metalelastic seals is so overkill for brakes. We use these on the high pressure fuel systems. they are service rated to 35,000 psi.
