What are folks running for wheels on an Exocet? Size? Brand? Any "best choice"
Plan 20% track, 80% street

what type of track driving are you planning on doing? There are a few types of street-able track tires available.
I am running 15" Kosei K1 TS with 205/50r15 Yokohoma ADAVAN Neova AD08 R I bought these first for my Miata because they are very sticky in the dry but will still grab if I get stuck out in the rain.
If you plan on going to a specific track or autocross event check to see if they have tire restrictions.
Most important thing is the rim offset If you are going to use the fenders over the tires you will need to be at a zero offset on the rim for the fender to clear the tire sidewall. this can be achieved with wheel spacers but the spacer will increase your rotational weight. so look for rims with low offset measurements.
hope this helps.

I'm using the Exomotive offering, with the zero offset wheel. I didn't like the idea of using large spacers.

We run Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s on the race Exocets and 20mm spacers. Tyre wise we've been using Nankang NS2-Rs and they've held up really well this season in dry to monsoon conditions. Still look almost new!

I will be using the Mk2 5 spoke rims as they seem light - just need to work out spacers now

The Rims that Exomotive offers are very nice. Check with Revlimiter.net They make custom badges, might be worth asking how much it would be to make badges for the rim center caps.

Surely the spacers plus wheels with a higher offset are identical to wheels with a lower offset as they still need the material to bring the wheel further out...?
Most people wouldn't even be able to see a difference with the weight being so close to the centre of the wheel. Fitting heavier tyres will be more noticeable.

Agreed that spacers are just like adding a different offset. What I'm worried about are all the horror stories of using larger spacers. I have no real experience with them, and am sure there are safe options. My opinion is if you already have a set of miata wheels that you are planning to use, then spacers are a good option. If you are looking to buy a set of new wheels, why not save the money (on the spacers) and buy a set with the right offset...

You guys have a better selection of aftermarket wheels in the US than we do in the UK - Im looking for 12 wheels the same so secondhand wheels work out much cheaper ! - the MK2 5 spoke seem to be the lightest i can find easily and cheaply. Got 4 so far just need another 8 ! I'm building mine for Gymkhana and Drifting so will get through tyres !

The MK 2 rims were mostly made by Enkei. here is a chart I found that gives weight and sizes. hope you find this helpful. www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html
