My build is from a 2000 Miata only 1 fuel line no return line. No return positive pressure in the tank. I have the fill 1/4 vent hose and the tank charcoal vent linked to the overboard marine vent. I am not sure this solves all the issues that the OEM design was able to. Overpressure is the evap and charcoal canister and the gas cap was allowing air into the tank to replace the space the fuel occupied. Fuel exit and return doesn't really matter from a regulation standpoint, it just contributes to the issue. I would think with the way it is setup there would be positive pressure in your tank on a hot day or if the car sits for a while. I am not sure how much it matters but I would think Mazda addressed it for a reason. You have a valid point, but the way I have the tank set up it is open not sealed. I was not trying to duplicate the oem tank setup. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. Unfortunately it wouldn't be good in a enclosed garage. I plumbed the fuel tank like a boat fuel tank prior to the evap rules. So far I have not had any issues with back pressure in the tank.

Hello i just recently placed the deposit for my order(a little over a week ago). Still dont know build frame number i havent received any info from them as of yet. I have a question since u r in florida same as i am (miami) i though we could just register the exocet as the miata and use the registration as such? What are the procedures for florida? And what could happend if i just treat it as a miata?

And what could happend if i just treat it as a miata? Florida is easy to register the car. There is only one inspector that I know of in South Miami Dade County He covers the Florida Keys also. First you have to have all the forms for Florida in order, then you set up an appointment for the inspection. Keep detailed notes and receipts organized for everything. The inspector wants to confirm where all the parts came from VIN numbers on engine and gear ect. If you get rid of the body prior to registration have detailed records and photos of where it went. My registration and plate were still valid from my Miata so the tag swap over was easy. I found this link helpful but I also went to my county tag office and they had all the forms I needed. www.semasan.com/semaga/TagTitleToolbox_FL.pdfWhat part of Miami are you in? John

Just to add my two cents, the Central Florida office isn't loaded with rocket scientists. They keep contradicting themselves. In the end did way more documentation than was actually needed but at least they didn't say I was missing something. Had copies of all invoices for non-donor parts along with photos (the head guy laughed and said it was not needed but the first time I went in for the paperwork I was told it was). Take plenty of photos of the donor parts that are used. This is what they seemed most interested in during the paperwork side of things. Taking pictures of the VIN's and stamped numbers on the trans/engine were the best pics I could have taken. They wanted to see these during the physical inspection but didn't want to get under the car to look. I had pictures and got my title.

It has been quite a while since I have worked on my build. I have been very busy at work over the past year leaving me very little time to put toward my build. Honestly after working all day on boats the last thing I have wanted to do is work on another project.
I am committing to getting this thing finished by March 2016. wish me luck.
