I then got excited and wanted to see what it looks like with the bodywork and seats so I put them all in place to see how it looked. Next job I strated was to fit the pedals and steering column, this was a little annoying as I cut all the spacers of the rear of the pedal assembly and found that the accelerator pedal was hitting the frame before the thor othe cable was fully engaged. I then took it apart and mounted the spacer back on the inside of the firewall. I then moved on to the Radiator. After I had a look at my Radiator and found the Ali fins had corroded quite badly and would flake off if I touched them. I decided that a new one would be best so went to good old eBay. i also made up some brackets so that I can hopefully use the original lower fixing bobbins on the bottom of the rad as well as a bolt through the frame to meet the upper holes. i will need to see if this plan works when the new rad arrives. I then moved onto the seat mounting, can anyone advise what thickness of material the used for the seat runners? I have ordered some 40mm x 10mm flat bar to mount the bucket seats to the frame.

Brake line should be fine for the rear. It's the front ones that can cause the problems if they rub on anything when the wheels are turned lock to lock. make sure the car is on the wheels when you test this as Scooby discovered that his were rubbing at the iva test as he had positioned the hoses when the car was on axle stands. The cars looking good.

Perfect, I have secured the fronts also and have no contact lock to lock so they should be ok. Really excited about the build now I have started to make good progress.

The loop in the trans coolant lines is OK nothing but air in there..You could remove hard lines and cap ports or leave open.. On the lower brackets are you going to secure them to the frame.. Maybe with a couple of small rivnuts in each one on the inside surface.. It would stop vibration and wear. It also looks like the radiator is mounted too high above the side top rails.. If I remember the top of the cap should be no more then 10mm above a straight line from one side top rail to other side.. If wrong I am sure someone will chime in.. Nice build so far..

Thanks,
I took the brackets off and painted them and also drilled 2 holes in each one to secure to the chassis. I based the height on what I seen on john and Luke's build with the top of the cooling fins level with the bottom of the upper box section. Will try tomorrow and see if it's to high.

My build has come to a stand still this week as my brother has gone on holiday and left me with his GTR :-) This car is absolutely amazing to drive, it's a stage 4.5 Litchfield and running just under 800 BHP, never been in something so fast?

I'm back on the build and moving slowly. I replaced the slave unit on the clutch as it had a part missing and also fitted a braided line from the master to the slave to get rid of the original hard pipe work. I then decided to bleed the clutch, what a job that turned out to be but after 2 nights of messing around with it I now have a good solid clutch :-) I also made up the seat rails for the bucket seats to fit on, for this I just used 10mm flat bar and drilled the holes to suit the exo frame and the seat runners on the bucket seat base. I am now at I point where I'm unsure what to do next, I will probably fit the tank as the next job and then I guess it will be plugging it all in and trying to start it.

Wow, not updated since August. Its been slow due to work but got a few bits done when I could. Coolant system completed, just need to find final mounting place for header tank. Fitted the loom loosely around the car to check it starts ok, had a few issues with the fuel pump not running (see below) mevowners.proboards.com/thread/7542/fuel-pump-running-resolvedNext job job will be to tidy up all the wires and thin the loom down a little.

Well after 10 months of the car just gathering dust I'm about to start on the build again, never really lost interest but started a new business so that took priority.
I spent last week at the Nurburgring doing laps in a megane RS 275 and this has given me the kick i needed to get back on the build. i now want to complete the build and make a track weapon :-)
As it stands the car is a rolling chassis and it starts and runs, next job is to try and hide some wires.

My build is back on track and will now have weekly updates, Friday night is my dedicated Build night and i have a friend who has joined in to help me get it finished for the summer.
So the car was running as it should, apart from an issue with the fuel pump not priming, after a lot of messing about the issue seems to have resolved itself.
Now i know the car is running i disconnected the loom and will now redo the cables neatly.
Job now is to mount the bulk head panels, pop to screw fix for a 70mm Holesaw to reuse the original rubber grommets that are still on the loom.
Also ordered some rubber mounts to get the fuel tank mounted.
Has any one got any pictures of what they have done under the fuel tank to prevent fuel getting to the exhaust?
Thanks Don

Started fitting the panels to the bulk head last night and covered them in a carbon look fabric, was please with how it looked when it was done. I drilled 2 x 70mm holes to reuse the original grommets. I then decided to mount my fuel tank, i done this by using rubber vibration mounts to raise the tank a little to stop it touching the subframe. Next was securing the fuel pipe so its not touching anything, i also fitted the new fuel filter on the brace that the tank mounts to. Not sure if the sticky bases with cable ties is ok with the IVA so will do a bit of research now. Next job will be to make some sort of tray for the ECU and the loom to hide inside. Going to have a look through other builds to get some ideas, Im sure i seen one build with the tray fitted at an angle to make more space.
