great build, love the flywheel and engine mounts. Sorry to hear about the VOSA delays, typical this time of year I am afraid, anyone reading should consider putting in app b4 your are ready to save time. Summer will be here in a minute.

Yeah I've hit the rush for summer for sure, I knew I would but that's the way it goes, I wanted to wait till I had a proper list of remaining jobs so I knew exactly what was left to do, including time for a full check through the IVA manual against the car. I didn't want to book it too early and then have to rush to get the car finished, its a bit of a balancing act knowing when the car will be ready.

So, a few more jobs done. Covered and fitted the centre tunnel. I covered it in faux leather that I got for the steering wheel centre pad as I seemed to have lots of it left over. Finished and fitted the centre pad for the steering wheel. Also fitted the dreaded fuel tank cover! was a bit fiddly but it went on, there are a couple of little gaps on the sides and top that intend to fill with sticky back foam tape, will that be ok? I made a cover for the gap above where the exhaust comes out of the back. and for where the belt sticks out the bottom of the engine cover Do I need a cover for the other side (shown below)? Also, I've put the battery on the front bulkhead near the passengers feet, does this need some edge covering on the corners and exposed edges? on the same thread, do I need to cover anything under the dash where the steering column is?

My IVA man was not a lover of the Blue Peter school of sticky back foam. Also make sure any sharp edges in passenger side foot well are covered and your battery terminals should also be covered.

Just got my IVA date, the first date they can fit me in is 1st July! so I posted the application on 27th March, they recorded it as received on 30th March and my test is on 1st July, that's nearly 14 weeks from sending it to the test date! Didn't think it would take that long! I really need to make sure it passes first time or I'm going to miss summer!

At least you have one now. You could always trailer to a track for a fun day out. But you should be able to make Curborough under your own steam!

Yeah, at least I've got a date and as you say I also have time to trailer it somewhere to do some testing and set up. Also when I spoke to the lady on the phone to book the date, she said that if they get a cancelation she might be able to pull it forward.

Following the advice passed on to me I have been busy making guards for any gaps around the engine compartment.
Also, for the passage foot well and battery terminals I decided to make a cover for the battery which hinges down and is held shut with Velcro straps.

Not sure if this helps but this is a list of IVA stuff that I missed and was pointed out to me for rectification before the IVA date.
Lift headlights up to required height Cover and clip (Tie Wrap) all wiring Re-clip and lift by min 10mm front brake lines Make and fit steering UJ joint cover Remove day time running lights Trim all contactable edges around the front wishbones Nut cap bolts on wishbones (I must have missed some) Secure all wiring and pipe work under the bonnet Trim Seats (edge trim by the belt holes and rear of seat) Nut cap and trim all contactable edges in the C0ckpit (I did not know this needed to be done) Change upper seat belt bolts for longer ones, tie wrap loose end of seat belts Trim and nut cap seat belt mounts Tether fuel filler cap Nut cap and trim all contactable edges on rear wishbones and engine cover Re clip brake lines (as front ones) and handbrake cable Make new rear light brackets Remove and re fit number plate lights in to correct position Clip and tidy all wiring in engine bay Make and fit covers to engine cover and around engine mounts Lift suspension to level car

Hi BobN, thanks for the list, all info is helpful, could you clarify a couple of things, see below; Lift headlights up to required height DoneCover and clip (Tie Wrap) all wiring Done most, need to do last check roundRe-clip and lift by min 10mm front brake lines Is this across the wishbones? I've used bits of pipe to lift them across wishbonesMake and fit steering UJ joint cover I wondered about this, what did you use for this?Remove day time running lights Not got anyTrim all contactable edges around the front wishbones As in the suspension mount points? what did you use for this?Nut cap bolts on wishbones (I must have missed some) Done most, a few to go on stillSecure all wiring and pipe work under the bonnet DoneTrim Seats (edge trim by the belt holes and rear of seat) DoneNut cap and trim all contactable edges in the C0ckpit (I did not know this needed to be done) Need to check this oneChange upper seat belt bolts for longer ones, tie wrap loose end of seat belts Were the longer bolt to get enough thread showing, done the loose ends but might redo as not happy with themTrim and nut cap seat belt mounts DoneTether fuel filler cap DoneNut cap and trim all contactable edges on rear wishbones and engine cover Done most, need to do last check roundRe clip brake lines (as front ones) and handbrake cable All clipped but worth checkingMake new rear light brackets Think I'm ok with position and fixingsRemove and re fit number plate lights in to correct position What was the problem?Clip and tidy all wiring in engine bay Done but will do final checkMake and fit covers to engine cover and around engine mounts DoneLift suspension to level car Will check

Some answers but you may find pic examples in other Rocket build diaries.
Re-clip and lift by min 10mm front brake lines Is this across the wishbones? - YES
Make and fit steering UJ joint cover I wondered about this, what did you use for this? - MOST used Ali mesh or made a cover out of ALi
Trim all contactable edges around the front wishbones As in the suspension mount points? what did you use for this? - I think so. I believe RTR covered it with glued on rubber piece (like a rubber cap or something)
Change upper seat belt bolts for longer ones, tie wrap loose end of seat belts Were the longer bolt to get enough thread showing, done the loose ends but might redo as not happy with them - YES need to see at least 2 therads or something like that.

Thanks for the answers, for the steering UJ joint do you mean the one at the rack end that sticks out of the side panel near the front suspension? if so I have that covered, I thought you meant the one at the cockpit end that is near the drivers knees cause I'd been wondering if we needed to put something over that one?
