So, may have upset some MX5 'Purists' today. Attended the MX5 Owners club spring rally in Bristol. Next time I must remember to fit a grass cutter blade to the front of the car! Anyway a really nice day and lot's of knowledgable people to talk to! Got marked down for having 'dusty wheels' 'dusty exhaust' and 'dirty suspension' - didn't want to mention the suspension is Orange so might just pick up the odd bit of muck from the road. I need to up my standards!

Hi John, That would be brilliant if you could email me that. I was messing around making templates for the foam pads for the seats yesterday. Do you know how easy it would be to bend the seat position ratchet arm as I thought about just cutting a section off and rebending it. Unlike you I don't have a welder and can't weld properly even if I had. Although I'm sure I could get one of the guys here at Cosford to weld it. My seats are the MEV ones, I thought buying them from MEV would save a lot of work but with hindsight I think a nice set of aftermarket seats may have been easier. Colin Sorry to butt in, but if you still have it, could I also have a copy of the template for the shoulder slots. I have the MEV GRP seats, but it would be a starting point. Many thanks. fin@thegulf.org.uk

Template emailed Much appreciated Found these photo's if it helps. You need to make sure the fixing and route of your harness complies with any IVA requirements.

Hi John,
What a great build, so much attention to detail. Some really great ideas here, and I need to spend more time reading through everything. Quick question (sorry if you have covered this already but I haven't read through all the pages yet), are you happy with the fuel tank that you designed? I am contemplating getting an aluminium fuel tank to make most use of the space and save some more weight, but wanted to know if you had any fuel starvation issues or "things you would do differently next time"? Where did you have the tank made? Do you mind if I copy the design using the drawings you so kindly provided?
Thanks, Alexey

Hi Alexey, No problems whilst I owned the car, I used the standard pump so fuel supply was as standard. Copy away, that is what the plans are there for.
Just be aware that the standard fuel pump mounting plate has two raised tags that face downwards that you need the grind off so that they dont interfere with getting a seal between the tank surface and the mounting plate.
Was made by a Specialist Welding in Steventon, Oxfordshire.
