Hi John,
That would be brilliant if you could email me that. I was messing around making templates for the foam pads for the seats yesterday. Do you know how easy it would be to bend the seat position ratchet arm as I thought about just cutting a section off and rebending it. Unlike you I don't have a welder and can't weld properly even if I had. Although I'm sure I could get one of the guys here at Cosford to weld it. My seats are the MEV ones, I thought buying them from MEV would save a lot of work but with hindsight I think a nice set of aftermarket seats may have been easier.

Just wondered if anyone has attempted their driving test in one? Now that would be good. No reason why he couldn't. I would love to see the examiners face when they went out to the car. Recon this is what it would look like. As much fun as it would be to turn up at the test centre and watch the guys face you might want to check in advance - there are 4 cars that are definitely not allowed - I only know that because out of all of the cars on the market my wife managed to buy one (Toyota IQ). from recollection there was a need to have an additional rear view mirror for the examiner, I am sure there are other oddities they will require. looking forward to seeing john's Exocet with learner plates on it though!! Not so much the insurance quote lol

I think they need to have rear seats as the examiner is sometime being examined (as with my test) so there needs to be seating for 3. A friend took his in his mums Z4 and was not allowed...

Picked up a nice box of goodies today. One of the best bits of the build (making stuff and seeing it kick around as bits of steel and having it come back wrapped in bubble wrap and as nice shiney components very OCC). So quite a few months ago I decided that I needed to add something to the rear end to finish it off? Great cars have Great rear ends! So my original plan was to use a one piece glass fibre rear skirt. Started off with one from a Focus ST. Ok so its a bit big!, a lot of cutting and filling later I ended up with this. Anyway this ended up in the 'good but not good enough' pile and I went back to the drawing board and tubular steel. Decided to make it removal, incorporating my rear fog and reversing lights into the design and replacing the MX5 sub frame tie bar. So construction looked like this. Also in box were my wing stays and light brackets. Decided to go black with these to add contrast. Front headlight bracket fitted. Not sure it the headlight body also needs to be black ? welcome views.

Wait to fit the bodywork before deciding on the lights. The back end looks good.

I think you might be right. Black might be the way to go on your car as unlike me you don't have any silver/grey anywhere. I think I can just about get away with it but initially I was thinking of getting mine the same colour silver as my chassis.

They look like single projector Photo lights. Yes they are single unit PHOTON headlights with dip and main beam. I have the same lights on my build.

Hi everyone, seems a long time since our last post, as we get to the end of our build lots of smaller IVA type jobs. However, after a long wait we got our seat belt harness bar back from the metal polishers. Very shiny! Fitted with 8.8 grade bolts. Another job that we have been thinking about was how we make the rear shock tops IVA proof in terms of minimum radius. I've seen the use of knock no edging used but fancied something different. When time allows maybe I will make some carbon fibre covers however, for the meantime two plastic bottles of sparkling water purchased and the bottoms cut off. Then using a spacer I glued the bottom of the bottle onto the original plastic shock top main bolt covers. Left this is harden overnight, followed by a light rub with wet and dry paper before spraying satin black. Then just a matter of using the original shock top and pushing this back on the main shock bolt. This then covers the top of the shock, restricting access to any sharp edges. The bottle top has nice smooth radius' and is flexible so should pass the IVA. Next on the list was our rear reflectors. Having considered a number of options decided to play it save for the IVA and change out our existing rear lights. Found some all in one light/reflector LED units on Ebay for a reasonable price. These are E marked so should be fine. So swapped out the lights and mounted the new ones using our original light brackets plus some edge trim around the back of the light. On reflection, they match in with the rear fog and reversing light style so we are pleased. Lights and reflectors done! Next jobs are the mirrors and battery tray sides, fingers crossed for a summer IVA.
