Loving the lights, how are they for IVA compliance? Minimum height? This was one of my concerns, also do sidelights have to be visible from 45 degrees on the opposite side or is that just indicators, I'm curious coz my DRL's also include indicators and will be in the same position

Having read the IVA manual using the recesses in the nose cone presents an issue with the maximum distance from the outside edge (defined as the wheel aches). Measuring my vehicle the distance between the outside edge and the edge of the DLR is 430mm + a 32mm spacer will take me to 460mm a definite fail ! The min and max height aren't a problem as the bottom of my light is 350mm so meets the DLR/Sidelight minimums. I've drawn the following to help explain -taken from table 1 - IF I"VE GOT THIS WRONG PLEASE SOME SHOUT

d**n, I may just make a bracket for mine for IVA and look and mounting them in the nose come at a later date. The diagram looks right to me Shaun, Section 22 Table 1 also states that you can have 2 optional Front position lamps (see note 7) Helpfully Note 7 says 'that the geometric angles and positional requirements are not required for all optional position lamps'. Therefore I'm going to run my nose lights as optional front positional lamps (sidelights) not DLR's. I will fit a combined sidelight/indicator IVA compliant light adjacent to my headlights. This may be an option for you as well? John

Yeah that's a good find, and most likely the route I'll go.

Bonnet Frame finished over the weekend. Then bonded to Bonnet and gaps filled with P40. Then Fibre glass reinforcement added around the frame. Nose cone frame reinforcement still to do but I now have a very rigid bonnet. The original bonnet flex has disappeared. Open and closes really well. My target is to complete the bonnet by the end of next weekend. Slowly ticking the jobs of. 5 major jobs left before I can think about powder coating.

Looks very good John…but then I wouldn't expect anything less.. It would make a good pattern for a mould once it's all done… i'm sure other people would be interested in the flip front as a winter modification in the future.
5 more major jobs left….? I think I know one.. possibly one that I'm just about to start.

Not much progress this weekend. Was due to be fibreglassing the bonnet but decided it was to cold. Ended up make a bonnet stay. Used 8mm rod which I threaded on one end and attached to a small Ball joint rod end. This as mounted on top of the shock tower via a simple bracket. Then the bonnet lock plate, for which I used some Ally channel. Time consuming little job but had to be done.

Nice simple solution. Where does the rod fold away when the bonnet is down?

Might want to vacuum off that air filter and put a plastic bag over it while doing all that dusty work..

Nice simple solution. Where does the rod fold away when the bonnet is down? Tomaff, the rod folds downs pointing forward just below the top chassis tube. When I first made it it was about an 1" longer and prevented the nose rotating back into postion. A moment of panic then realised what had happened. So lengthened the thread and cut off an inch. Now finishes level with the front of the chassis.

Little bit more Glass Fibre tonight on the bonnet. Touch of Black pigment in the resin. Bit cold really but needs must. Started on my rear light brackets, mounting plate cut and drilled.

How had is the fibreglass stuff? Was thinking of redoing my wing stays with it? Do you buy a kit?
