Well it in and plumbed & wired and it produces heat in the foot wells I have to duct it to foot wells. the heater sucks air in from the engine bay behind the expansion tank Flow & return pipes through bulk head to heater No more cold feet & legs

Hi Geoff,
I read with interest and a little fear about the VRT people; it really doesn't seem like they want us to register MEVs here. I'm planning to build a Rocket in Dublin; but I looked up my donor, and with its 212g/km CO2 that would put it in Band F for VRT, which sounds like 36% of whatever they think the car's worth. A rocket chassis from RTR is nearly €2800, the comprehensive kit about twice that, but more if they choose to make it 36% of the full road-going price (€25k or so) I'm screwed. Would you mind posting full details of how they arrived at your tax liability? OR PMing them? I'm planning on joining IKCC, just to get details; I think my wife'd murder me if she thought my toy was going to cost €8k and another €3k to get it road-legal..

Also, sorry to hijack again, were there any issues using a crashed donor? I would like to use a UK Cat C or D damaged Focus for my Rocket build, but it'd a be a giant PITA if my choice of donor ended restricting me to Mondello a few times a year.

Casesensitive Hi when I decided to build the Exocet I was lucky to have sourced the doner witch was off the road for some time as you see in my first page of my build .the log book had not been transferred to any body name and still to this day is still registered to the previous owner but when I went to get the Exocet registered the only information they wanted in relation to the doner mx5 was the engine number & the CO2 of the engine. The only way I got the co2 info was from the last NCT cert of doner
And they never queried any thing about this .I feel I could of give them a lower number that would reduiced my tax and vrt charge but it might of come back to bite me at a later stage . Before I started building I was in contact with revenue in rosslare and there never had been a new kit car build in 2 to 3 years go through the system so I was the guinni pig . I had lot of questions for them and when they got the answers they would contact me to let me know what the next step to take .
In the end it had to be regertered before April ad the whole system was going to change and ad you can see they want you to jump through hoops of fire with you're eyes closed because they still have not got a clue on what to do , There a new build Westfied in Dublin that was told he would have to bring the car to Germany to get the co2 test done and when the owner asked cold he bring it up north to get the car tested by doing the IVA they said They can't guarrentee the test from out side the duristriction cold be accepted it a minefield ,why can the just follow the uk model
The MEV Exocet is now a regertered vehicle in our revenue system ,
If you have any other questions give me a ring

Just be ware of cheap wheels, I have seen to many of them break due to the use of substandard materials
