Hi Guys I had a problem with filling the fuel tank,I could never get anymore than €25 into it , It kept spitting back up at me because I was using the original pipe to try bend it up and it kept kinking so i got some new pipe and here is the results 45mm and 15mm ID piping . I can now fill the tank with no issues The filler pipe fits well , One more little job out of the way Geoff

Looks good. Simple and effective. Might do the same on ours but with an aero cap.

I like that idea and with an aero cap would be brilliant. Well done guys.

I looked to fit my aero cap there but it is not a flat surface.

Hi guys
Doc I am just outside kells
I plan at some stage to fit a ardo cap . I know that it is not flat but I was panning to make a 10 / 20mm spacer to fit the curved body and be flush on top for the argo cap , I tough I could make a template out of modelling clay to get the curve then replicate it to a plastic spacer type
I think it might work ,this will be part of my winter mods with others I have planed

Get some of that soft modeling wood that you can cut with a pocket knife for a mold..

I was panning to make a 10 / 20mm spacer to fit the curved body Way to advanced for me - i just moved to a flat part...

Been thinking about this. Could the aero cap not be mounted slightly recessed. Not got my kit yet so haven't had a chance to look at the possiblities yet. But have the aero cap slightly below the skin so it can be level. Some kind of panel would have to be fibreglassed in to mount it tho. Will post some photos / drawings (hopefully) with the sort of thing I mean.

Hi
The fiber glass on the tank cover in that area if fairly thick but to cut down into it half way to mount a areo cap would be hard enough ,But remember there is very Little space under there to work on I fitted the pipe and tightened all up before I re fitted the Cover
But It worth a try if you are brave enough

that is another reason why I have put my aero cap on the N/S side corner of the cover as I can still just reach to tighten up the jubilee clip from the underside of the sub frame when the rear cover is secured. I spent hours looking at the options and problems each possible solution would give me. Removing the rear cover when the fuel filler pipe is attached to an aero cap is quite hard to arrange with the limited space and accessable angles.

Yes but if you fibreglassed in a plate with rivnuts or similar you could remove the Aero Cap totally before removing the rear deck (as long as you use flexible hose). I come from an aircraft background and a lot of aircraft fittings are not accessible once assembled and a lot of areas can't be accessed due to structure etc. I try to think of other methods. Instruments nearly always come out from the front so this is a similar situation to the Aero Cap. But like I said I haven't tried any of this yet so everybody that has been there will have more knowledge than me.
