I think I would build iva and enjoy over summer.. supercharge in winter.. position of O2 can be changed just weld on a new fitting, cap old.. there are heat blankets made for the mx5 to go on headers.. just don't wrap the pipes as they will rust out fast..

Im with the gwar
IVA first then supercharge - makes sense with the manifold otherwise youll be reinventing the wheel a couple of times.
How citical do you anticipate the heat sheild being( in being attached to the manifold) ? - Why not put a heat sheild on the supercharger ? there isnt much else in that area that will cook from the manifold.
Novice questions , as i am im afraid

You really don't want to wrap the supercharger..that would hold heat in and you want the coolest air to the engine.. Moss motors sells the Track Dog Racing blanket to go over the manifold. I have one on my MX5 '99 with a M62 blower.. simple install held on with mech wire.. alittle pricey through.. build it..drive it..then mod it.. add the supercharger to your christmas list..

Well no real updates for a while, i've been having a rest and waiting for my kit to be built, now that it is complete i need to organize collecting the kit which i think will be in the next couple of weeks. Today i decided to get a few bits out the way before fitting the frame. Just checked all the bolts and filled the engine and gearbox with fresh oil. I also weighted the alloy wheels as im trying to get it the lightest i can. They weigh 14kg each including the tyre which i think isnt too bad. Pulled it out the garage to have a good clear out so decided to take a few pictures. Ill update once I have collected my kit

i would go ahead and install te engine harness, and weed out the wires you dont need while you are waiting. at this point, that will take you the longest once you have the kit
as it sits, you have only a few days work left

Looks like a great build, will be interested in seeing your build guide once you have it completed. I've just got my donor and am going to start stripping it after holiday in september so am thinking of being very sad and taking as much reading material with me as possible on holiday to build some good knowledge up before attempting the build, being a total novice all the info I can get will help

Well was a good day yesterday, travelled the 2 hours down to get the kit, was nice to speak to stuart and julie, also got a sneak peak of the front end on the new creation which i must say does look very nice indeed. I got the kit home and unloaded then had no time to play. Will be at least next week until i can actually start building but here's a quick picture taken yesterday.
