Yeah, I never thought about the fact the R1, unlike my VFR does not have the selector for all 3 settings. I assume as soon as ignition is on, the dip beam is on?
Thought about maybe taking the switch apart and blanking off the lights entirely and fitting the savage Side, Dip and Main Beam. And then utilise the indicators on the left and entire right switch gear, and I will be using the original ignition. However after you brought this up about the lights, I may now look at the stalk on the column, I may also get the auto electrician who wired up my MNR to come and do this, maybe a bit of piece of mind in an area I am not 100% with.
Got my SpeedoHealer from a bloke on eBay for a bargain of £57 inc P+P and with the R1 lead too.
Just need my front Discs, fuel sender and of course the ongoing cables and pipework to plumb in the cooling and brakes etc.
Gonna get my caravan finished today and put back in storage to make lots of room for my pending delivery of my tR1ke :-)
May finally get chance to look through the wires, and bits and bobs then.
Cheers for your advice :-)
You enjoying your build? is this your first build?
Cheers
Nick

You got a good deal on your speedo healer, really enjoyed the build but i have two young kids, my own business and part time lecture for a college so time is limited, buying the extras is the only pain if there was an all in one kit i would have bought it. Im cheating on the last bit and dropping it off at RTR on Monday. My ambiton was to get it started and let the profesional handle the electrics and setup.
When i get it back you are more than welcome to come and have a look and we can take it out for a spin.

Fantastic, yeah cool im up for that, im expecting my kit around the 13th June, I think i may pay my auto electrician to wire mine up, its just better to get it done professionally, and I will defo be paying the extra to get RTR to MSVA mine.
I hope the brakes are much easier than my MNR was, so I will take my time and do them, and hopefully do them well. Whats the best practice for cables? Do I make them up, or can they be bought pre made?
I need a throttle cable, hand brake cable, then I will need custom cables for the backup linkage for the gear shift which I will fit after MSVA along with the reverse motor cable, I intend to use purpose built cables for these two already spec'd up.
Cheers

Just realised over the weekend that my R1 didn't come with nice mirrors and I decided I wanted something a bit nicer than the stock R1 ones, I managed to get some lovely ones from eBay and the are original ones too in Black, they will make it look sweet, just hope the SVA man likes them enough to pass em ;D Going to pay my deposit this Saturday ahead of a hopeful collection a week on Monday Think I may also get the floor powder coated once its been cut as I like the idea of it being a non standard look.

Mirrors arrived and they look great, much nicer than the crappy R1 ones that literally fell off my bike ;D
May fit my rounded ones on my VFR for the test, then swap them back for the road :-)

Just looking over my loom as I intend to extend the entire loom forward from the point of the split on the loom to left right switchgear, as I work it out on my loom thats just 37 wires to cut and extend. I will leave the ECU modules etc at the rear and maybe box them in leaving the Rectifier to get some cool air. I think I will just slowly cut, extend and then solder the wiring in. Can't decide whether to match the cable colours or to use a neutral colour like black. I may use the common colours to match up as much as possible, this would make things easier if a fault developes I suppose. May as well crack on and get some cable sourced, hope someone at Newark has a good selection of cabling and connectors :-) Think I may make several batches of 7 core trailer wire for the loom extension as I have 30mts of it for caravans. Its got all the core colours bar 2, its heavy duty cable too. If anyone can see why this wont work, please do say. Cheers, What a crap day it is today, hope its nice next weekend

Hi all. Well I've well and truly got the bug and wil be at Newark on Sat with my son to see a Tr1ke for reall before I strangle the bank account. I love the dials your fitting, would you mind letting me know where they're from. Also as I'm very new to this I apologise if this is a daft question, do you just find which wire goes to which readout on the R1 dash and then split them to go to the new dials, or is that wishfull thinking. Venom how are you doing the reverse motor? Good luck with all your builds and hope to see you on Saturday.
Regards
Lee

Hi Lee,
All will be revealed when mine is built, I dont really want to tell anyone where some of the bits arecoming from, because I want my trike to be pretty unique in the TR1KE world. I hope you understand, I haven't got my kit yet,I hope to have it before the end of this month, but its the busy time of year for mos Kitcar and powdercoat companies. I have some pretty nice gear going into mine, With regard splitting the wires and wiring up to a new clock, I am unsure, I intend to use all the original R1 stuff, so just hope to extend my wires down to the front. Please by all means make yourself known tome, I really only know 2 people or maybe 3 at a pinch at MEV or Road Track Race, Paul Holmes is your expert on the TR1KE, you must go for a blast in it after the show, make sure its a smashing hot day for the full effect. Its what sold me, and I have built one car before, but mainly I am a biker, I have also had a Boom Lowrider back in 2004 for 3 years.
I will be camped somewhere within MEV owners club, I have a Red megane and will have a green tent with a green and black teardrop Caravan.
Hope to catch you at newark.
Cheers
Nick
