I see. Thanks. Maybe you could drive on gravel or sand and hit the brakes firmly, than see if all three wheels were skidding? If not, you could adjust. Regards! Jelle

Jeah, I could do something like that, but I don't know if it would say that much about the balance... During testing at RDW in Lelystad, I had to remove the master brake cylinders to prove that it would brake on only the front brakes and on only the rear brake. They tested it on the track, but even with the balance bar completely set to the rear, and with removal of the front master cylinder (so he applied all his force on the rear brake only), the surveyor couldn't get the rear wheel to block completely...

What will the result be? (a Golf mating with a tR1ke?)
What is the damage on your tR1ke?

Thanks for the concernes, I am fine. Tomorrow morning I will make a start, but I assume all the motorcycle rear parts are destroyed. Anyway, I hope the frame has no damage, I don't feel much for building another one... nosecone has damage too because I bumped into the car in front of me because of the impact.
But, (to my surprise) in addition to what Erik written earlier in this thread: all the carbon parts, glued with epoxy resin are still firmly in place! Even the countersunk holes didn't tear out... quality of the nosecone material seems te be great!

shocking picture, so glad you are OK. It does beg the question, do we need to be more visible from behind? The trike is devoid of bright rear grp, it is low, mainly black, even a high level brake light perhaps mounted on the roll bar would help. That said even if you had a bright blue revolving light on the back some people still don't stop! Any safety ideas chaps? Please share.

Close call there, glad your OK..
One of this years winter mods is to fit a high level brake style light to the rear wing to try and prevent this happening.

Stuart, I equipped my tR1ke with 3 tail lights, one of them directly above the rear wheel, at eye height of a normal car driver. I think what happened really is a worst case scenario, the guy that hit me never saw a row if cars standing still to enter a roundabout. He declared to me (and to the police) that he wasn't paying attention, he didn't even remember if he used the brake. If I hadn't been there, he would have wrecked a Fiat Seicento in stead... Not any kind of warning is sufficient for such fools... I concider myself lucky because he hit the rear wheel, then the Golf got lifted up, rolling over the wheel and pushing me forward. Next, the exhaust with support and cover plate (fitted above the rear wheek) flipped over and the car slid over those parts to it's highest point. I really hope the frame is still okay, as well as the exhaust, I had to extend this myself and this was a hell of a job since it is made of titanium...
To be continued. I will have a quick inspection tomorrow before I jump on a plane to a greek island!

My opinion on this matter is the complete and utter idiot that drove in the back of you hasn't a foot to stand on, lets just think about this a little , what if you was on a bike or motorcycle? We all make mistakes on the road but when it comes to this, re-test or licence needs looking at, reason I say this is, had the same situation not with Trike but other vehicle and that was with my babies at the time!!! Regards to lights position, I've mounted them min 450mm from extreme width of Trike don't like it much but this is Australian rules, still, can't seem to think it would make any difference in your situation vtR1K. Regards, Will

I've been involved in a severe accident before which almost became fatal for me. So, I am always paying attention while driving. This is why I really don't understand the fool. Indeed, because all the cars were standing still, a (motor) cyclist would have been seriously injured. Imagine, a child could have crossed the street there also! Well, for now the damage seems to be lying somewhere around €13,000.- (incl. Labour and special parts construction). Luckily we have mandatory insurance here in NL, so I don't have to worry about the costs...

I thought about something like that also, but that is kind of illegal here... so I must be able to switch it off in case a police officer is behind me.
