How high are the rear light mounting points sitting? Worth considering now mate. Too low and its an IVA fail, do you have adjustable coilovers you can raise to meet the test requirements? Hee Hee..Hammy, James is in Boston, Massachusetts, so won't be subject to our IVA. That said, I don't know what the lighting requirements are for the test he has to submit his build to (I believe they vary state to state) so it's certainly him worth taking on board your advice anyway. James, as regards present ride height, what is the size and profile of the donor tyres you have fitted at the moment?

WOW! I thought your first Replicar build was a corker - but this one is absolutely stunning! Fantastic work, Mike. You must be pleased!! Is this for your own use or is it to be sold? You'll have people queueing up for it!

James, a couple of jobs to consider whilst you have the chassis upside down and easily accessible: Firstly, decide upon what clips you are going to use for the front/rear brake and fuel lines and fix them along the inside of the r/h trans tunnel member (otherwise access is considerably restricted once the chassis is mounted on the 'roller skate.') If you look on my website's build blog entry 'December 2017', you will see my solution was to retain and modify the 4-way clips from the donor which leads to a very neat installation.
Also, it is worth trial fitting, marking out and pre-drilling all the front bulkhead panels and chassis for the rivets. However, don't permanently fit them at this stage, as a little later in the build, you will need to make large holes in the panels to take the grommets for the wiring loom to pass from the cockpit to engine bay - which is far easier to do off the car.

Blimey! 1562kg!!! I think that's got to be a misprint! Unladen weight of a MK2 Mx5 is around 1025kg. The axle weights need to be the other way round on your form - i.e. axle 1- 600kg and axle 2-500kg. (There is a thread 'IVA Compliance' in the Replicar headers above the build threads which, admittedly shows the axle weights on Stuart's IAC as you have written but he has stated previously that these should be the other way round.)

The original induction pipe that runs along the front of the engine has a resonator chamber on its underside. You will probably find it prevents the pipe sitting low enough in the limited space between the rad and engine to prevent it fouling on the underside of the bonnet. It may be possible to remove this resonator box and seal the pipe but I figured that if I'm having to modify the OE pipework, I may as well fit an aftermarket induction kit. I don't know if a MK1 Mx-5 (which, I believe, is what Snowbird used as a donor) has this resonator?

I make them out of 3mm thick 50x50 angle iron.

Why not black - I assume you'll have accents of black in the cockpit such as the dash and inside of doors etc.? Or, regarding the yellow, I think Westie66 has yellow harnesses in his - which is the same colour green as your car and with the yellow lipstick if you want to check out that option (though his interior is black)

This is one of those areas where builders will have come up with a multitude of solutions depending on what type filler cap and location used. For my demonstrator, I decided to shorten and significantly modify the donor's steel filler tube so that I could use different diameter upper and lower lengths of IVA-compliant flexible fuel pipe to match their corresponding fuel cap and fuel tank spigots. I appreciate this may be beyond the scope of builders without the necessary welding skills/eqpt etc.

I'm afraid so, yes. You can see in my pic that from the rough edges it has clearly corroded through. 2nd pic shows what it should look like (I replaced both on my Replicar demonstrator btw!)

I know that Quantum Cars are also in attendance on stands M16 & M17. So that will be at least 3 Westcountry-based manufacturers lined up alongside each other. I don't know what others will be there? On the assumption that each would need two pitches, then there is room for eight or so in total - plus the club stands (inc. the Complete Kit Car stand) on the other side of the hall.
Hopefully, it will be well patronised and busy. Ultimately, it would be great if the kit car side of the show were to grow to a size as to be considered a decent substitute for the defunct Exeter show.

We have booked a stand at this year's show cvrs.bristolclassiccarshows.com/ which is held at the Bath & West Royal Showground. So come and meet us and see the ANC Replicar in the dedicated kit car hall (Mendip) on stands M18 & M19.
