Premier Powder Coating. Tony is the owner (well, him and his dog Jackson) and he's a great guy. (303) 282-4451, tell him Dan with the Exocet sent you.

Great thanks! I just ordered my frame a few weeks ago so it'll be a while before I get it Coated but good to know there's a good local option

Engine bay is (nearly) empty! Today I got the rest of the wiring harness out, which involved accidentally clipping two wires with my sawzall. Whoops! body will be off this week, just need to disconnect fuel and parking brake and we should be all set.

You guys have the benefit of FM having a finished Exocet with plates on already.

Dan, do you have any info on registering the Exocet in CO yet? Should be pretty simple from what I understand, you need a windshield and lights and such and then you just take it to the CSP office in Golden. I think you have to call to set an appointment and an officer will inspect the car, verify the VIN #'s aren't stolen (so keep proof of any major parts) and then you can apply for a CO assigned VIN. Kit cars are exempt from emissions in CO. This link is mostly up to date: Colorado Kit Car InformationWhen I went to the DMV office and asked for information on registering a kit car they gave me a stack of forms to fill out and went over the procedure. I suspect this varies by the individual you talk with at the DMV, so you may have to ask for a supervisor.

Good and bad news today! First off, big thanks to Matt (mdizz7) who helped a ton with finishing up the disassembly of the donor. Always nice to have an extra set of hands. A few hours of work this last weekend, and the donor body is off! Off to the scrapper: Meaning my previously cluttered garage is now much, much more manageable: But now the bad news...while lifting the body off using an engine hoist, it slipped and landed squarely on the oil filler cap. It cracked the top of the cap, but when I removed it I found out that it actually cracked the cap all the way through, sending a large number of small pieces of plastic into my engine. I'll be taking the valve cover off anyway for the timing belt, but I'm just wondering what the best way of getting all these pieces out of the top of my engine is...any thoughts? Either way, on to the cleaning of my (mostly) rust free donor so that I can finally get the body and such mounted. My build may be slower progress than others, but it's progress all the same!

You should easily be able to find the remnants of the cap inside the head valley once you pull the valve cover off.

Worst case some chunks fell into the pan thru the drain holes.

The mishaps continue. Looks like the previous owner hit the front subframe on something and bent a mounting point beyond fixing for the steering rack. Now I need a new front subframe. Treasure Coast is probably getting a call tomorrow...
Timing belt kit and shifter rebuild kits are in, rear subframe is going to the powdercoaters tomorrow. Hope to ahve the frame on in a week or two.

Updates! Got the rear subframe back from the powder coaters today, looks great. Also got the rear diff bushings changed out. Big news though was that I (finally) finished my timing belt. My frist time doing it and I'm pretty sure it all went smoothly, but the true test will be starting it up. Engine didn't look terrible: Also rebuilt my shifter using a 5xRacing kit. All I have left to do is run the brake lines and paint a few misc parts. Frame and PPF should be mated this weekend!

If you have 19 teeth between the top cam marks with all other marks on cam and crank in place.. front cam lobes pointing out to about 9 and 3 it should be OK

Help! Put the rear subframe on today since the body will be going on tomorrow. When I installed the lower part of the bushing, I found that the bushing doesn't touch the diff arm, which I'm pretty sure that it should. Am I missing a washer between the subframe and the top bushing or

Big day today, frame and PPF and finally together. It took loosening the PPF bolts and a bit of creative prying, but they're all in. Waiting on a few suspension bolts to come in before I can bolt the arms and such on, but it's nice to have things moving along!
