The Energy Suspension replacements I am using are completely solid so orientation isn't a problem. I just need to make sure I dont install upside down.

Thanks guys, will keep an eye on the replacement bushes to see if they are solid or slotted and pay attention to the orientation etc.
There seems to be many things Mazda related that can be fixed with a hammer. Thats true engineering at its best !
Should be able to take a look at the subframe on Saturday. No work booked and I'm sure I needed to go to the unit for something. Now what could that be???

It seems like an eternity since we got to the factory to have a little play, what with home and work getting in the way But finally, back again for the final body push ( hopefully ) ;D Found all the hidden bolts, bits and pieces still attached, or so I thought, so time to lift the body. Almost off, another stage almost completed. Some may say this is cheating, some may say fortunate. We say it makes life a whole lot easier. Just checking that everything is clear.... and talking on the phone at the same time. Who said men can't multi-task? Lifting up slowly but surely It was absolutely freezing, hat, scarves, gloves, coats, overalls..... more skins than an onion. Not that that stopped progress

The body is up in the air and well and truly clear of the subframe. Seeing the parts of car everywhere made us realise things were getting a little bit cluttered. With the body on the floor it was time for a quick tidy up. Space created, one complete body shell and subframe assembly seperated never to be re-united. Space to work makes me a happy boy indeed. Enough is enough for today, its cold outside, colder inside, and a good chunk done. A good stage to call it a day.

Hugely envious of your workshop!
If I had a fork lift truck to play with, I don't think I'd bother with a kit car.

There's even a tractor outside to play with as well (look through the door).

The tractor is nothing to do with us. We did question if the cab came off, could we fit the Exocet chassis on top!

Does anyone know if the bushes are the same for mk1,2 and 2.5? Have looked and found conflicting information on t'internet.

1990 to 2005 same A arms and uprights.. difference is in the swaybar mounting bushings most 90>97 kits have 19mm front bar.. and link ends bushings only need in 90>97 NA..

Cheers gwnwar, that clarifies things greatly. Now, off to find a source of bushes....
I did question why some kits said they would suit all models and some were for the NA only. Now I understand.

Looks like we're around the same sort of place again I managed to whip the head off Friday evening to get it cleaned up ready to do the HG and sort out the bottom end knock. This week the plan is to get the subframes apart and off to the coaters ready for the new bushes to go in! Working from home today...

Started work on what was left from taking the body off. Fuel tank and fuel lines..... OFF. Wiring from engine..... OFF. Power Steering..... OFF Propshaft...... OFF Exhaust...... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HOW STUBBORN CAN IT BE!! Two things to get you through the day. 1. Penetrating Fluid 2. Patience Much spraying of rusted bolts, perseverance and finally success. Nearly time to finish off so started to strip the front end. Offside brakes and hub removed, tie rod disconnected. Nearside to be done later, then the steering rack. All in good time. A good dose of shot blasting and powder coating required from the look of things. Hope to have this all stripped and ready for treatment by the end of the week. Exocet building would be far more progressive if customers didn't keep booking work in. How inconsiderate.

Don't forget to drain the engine and filter, trans, diff while you have they up in the air.. You can empty the filter drain over night and screw back on for nowwhile cleaning engine.. Use a wire brush on all threads and respray. Bolts for the steering U joint are graded so put them back in the joint after it is remover.. Good job so far nice work space..

Thanks Gwnwar for the advice.
Really hope to get everything subframe related stripped by the end of the week so it can be cleaned and coated. Will drain each part engine/transmission related as it is seperated.
Will wait to see how things clean up so we can make a decision on new or replacement tie rods etc. It all looks in a sorry state at the moment.
