Word of warning. I sent my IVA docs mid march and I am still waiting on number plates. Passed first time, but the government is not built for speed.

They were from ebay as about 90% of my build has been www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271146216984They are from china but they are the only slim line ones i could find that were the correct size, the slot is 160mm these are 157mm. The ones i found at stoneleigh that were 130mm and £46!!!! these are a tenth of that £4.73. Mine took a week to get here. Rich

Wont the fly screen be a failure point due to not being shatter proof or something like that.

If it needs to be taken off its nice and easy.
Spent today phoning insurance companies only adrian flux could actually give me a quote as im 20 and that was £880
I know a lot of you will fall off you chairs at that but my daily driver is a 1.4 2008 Fiat bravo last year that was £1800 this year £780 so all in all not drastically bad will still try and get it down, a few other companies are going to get back tomorrow.
On a positive note just booked for the 4th amm will most likely have to trailer it but bought myself a new Gopro to film my first few drives, will most likely get the nickname captain slow lol

Well those of you that attended the AMM meet might of noticed the sound of my car attempting to destroy its self after 2.8 miles.
Thanks a lot to the help that was given to me diagnosing it on the day, we narrowed it down to a flywheel problem.
So yesterday i qued the music and started work. Now removing the gearbox in an exocet isn’t easy as i realised after removing my centre tunnel and all my front firewall the engine will need to come out to.
So after working for about 14 hours straight I had removed the engine and gearbox fixed the flywheel problem and managed to put the engine and gearbox back in, will start it up tonight with all my fingers crossed, just got to re rivet my front firewall and tunnel back in then its like it never happened.
The loud clatter turned out to be one of the flywheel bolts catching on the clutch shock absorber springs.
All in all it was areally good day and i cant wait for the next one, will post up the videos of my short runs too.

Hi Rich, I insured my car on chassis number prior to iva which i've just applied for. I am 37 which makes alot of difference but adrian flux in norfolk done a year for £219 3000miles a year / £10,000 value / not including commuting / garaged overnight / fully comp.

Ive had nothing but hassle with Adrian Flux. Got it insured on the chassis number no problem (£155 fc) and then after a few weeks they started asking for the reg number. Numerous phone calls later from myself they agreed to extend it for another 4 weeks. I tried to explain to them the situation with VOSA and the DVLA and their timescales but AdrianFlux pretty much said youve got until xx day of xx month to get the reg number or the policy will get cancelled. Needless to say it ended up getting cancelled as i couldnt get the reg number within the alloted time.
If they had told me in the original phonecall that i would only have a month insurance on the chassis number i wouldnt have had a problem as i would have gone elsewhere but it was only after a few weeks (outside of the 'cooling off' period) they hit me with the whole no reg number no policy fiasco. All of this from a kit car 'specialist'.
Ive had reinsured but this time with Crosby Insurance. £125 fc parts only.
31yrs old, 4000miles, agreed £8k value.

After calling vosa a few times today I finally got a date from them, the first date was the last week in august, managed to get him to squeeze me in now next Wednesday, so the next few nights will be scrutinizing every bit of the car, already decided to change the front indicators as in the winter months when I got then they were really bright, now you can only just notice there on.
Will be posting some pics up tomorrow for you all to see if there is anything you can spot that might fail
