So, ordered new head all the way from Massachusetts for a grand total of $500 shipped - BP4W. Cheapest I could find in california was ~$800ish and even then they are rare. Replacing head on Wednesday night just in time for my CHP appointment on Thursday morning. A few questions: - Do the turn indicators need to work for the CHP appointment?
- Do I have to have a full exhaust for the CHP appointment? Currently I only have the exhaust manifold plus downpipe but no mid-pipe and muffler.
- Do I need to install the fender guards? Are they a legal requirement in CA?
Any tips on getting the side repeaters working? I am at a loss why as to why they're not working. I've checked all grounds with a multimeter and they show 0.5ohm resistance.

I did some searching...it's those god-damn converters from 5x to 4x wires for the rear lights! And my flasher may be dead for turn signals but I'll figure those out. I had a don’t of problems with the trailer lighter converter I was running. My turn signals would light up when I pressed the brake, etc...Huge pain in the butt all around. Eventually I got tired of it just went to factory-style separated turn signals and brake lights, getting rid of the trailer adapter. I am thinking I'll have to do that as well. Just have a flip switch for left-right on the dash and make my own flasher circuit. I can't get the stock turn signals to work for the life of me. All the other lights (brake, tail and reverse) work like a champ though with the trailer adapter.

Right now there just isn't enough resistance to trip the flasher to work.

Oh boy - embarrassing. I didn't take the cap off the spark plug - evidence I've never had a motorbike in my life. All good now.
