Right - paid the balance this afternoon, hoping to go collect the kit this weekend!
It says it will fit in a LWB Transit van - I havent got one of those but I do have a trailer I can borrow. Has anyone picked it up using a trailer, and is that a suitable way of doing it?

Oh and if you use a van how do you get it out? I presume it can be loaded in with a forklift, or do I also have to supply manpower to lift it in there as well - in which case you can only get three people in a van so is three people enough to carry the new chassis?
And are MEV open on weekends?
Lot more questions than answers at the moment, I'm slightly worried!

I collected mine on the roof of the car and all the parts inside the boot, you do need to be a pro at Tetris for getting it in, and a dab hand at Jenga for getting it out though. Weight wise its not too bad for two people to lift, couldn't tell you if they are about on a Saturday.

Two of us hoisted mine into a LWB van hire from Costco/Hertz no problem. I suspect there are always more questions than answers. It's the nature of the beast!

Two people's normally enough to move/carry/lift the chassis a little way. Some wheels/dolly might be useful if it's a long way from the road to your build-place.
The GRP parts are (used to be) wrapped in bubble-wrap which won't take much abrasion against things - so with a trailer it might be best to put the GRP bits in your tow car if poss - with blankets/cushions/other padding between them ideally.
As for if MEV're open ... give 'em a call - they're good people and you are a customer.

I'll be sending them an email shortly anyway saying I've paid, as the letter asks for you to do that, so I can enquire as to their opening times. I suspect it'll be normal office hours, in which case I'll be on my own. Its £40 to hire a big van from Enterprise on a Tuesday - or £110 on a Saturday! They dont miss a trick do they

Once all the plastic was off, I could stand inside it and walk it like I was deadlifting :-) {Old bloke was contracted on Shiply} 75Kg for a Rocket, hard to imagine an Exocet weighs more. Once I was ready for powdercoating, I got my little brother to help, just because I didn't want to risk scratching it, by this time I'd bought a car transporter.

Yes they've confirmed 65kg for the Exocet chassis, so Emma and I should be able to lift it out of the van at home, just might need a hand at their end getting it in there

Just doing a few bits last night, I noticed the antiroll bars have mounts to the chassis which will have to be removed before the body comes off, and also must remember the power steering and aircon stuff as well.

Here's a timelapse video of Emma and I removing the Mazda body this afternoon It went pretty well - items still connecting the bottom bit to the top bit included an aircon hard pipe, both front brake flexi pipes, a bracket holding the radiator hose to the body, engine earth strap and a wiring loom clip just before the fuse box, and power steering pipes. We had the engine crane on the last-but-one hole, rated for 500kg, and I lifted it using a strap looped around a pair of eyebolts inserted in the rear-most transmission tunnel seat mount bolt holes, and a 3/4" extension bar through the eyebolt as a locking pin. Not being able to use one of the front seat mount holes, as suggested in the build manual, made the car nose heavy, but with a bit of weight in the boot (Emma) it wasn't too bad. With hindsight, I'd advise having a couple of people holding the weight of the front of the car up, rather than having someone holding the back of the car down, but its done now and nobody died

Thats just the standard way they make them now I think I thought as much, was speaking to Stuart at ASI about that. I'm glad, looks tonnes better. Dont suppose you could post a picture of the rear tank cover could you ?
