The good side The bad (too short side). Turns out, after measuring, that I have had a car with standard caliper on the passenger side. Next stop, buy a replacement.

Can't put drive shaft back in until I get a new retaining clip. Hope this is the one for the correct end of the shaft. www.mx5parts.co.uk/drive-shaft-clip-late-mk225-p-2924.htmlThis is the offending part, that is now redundant, which caused the failure to assemble the passenger driveshaft the other evening... Found a bare big brake brake caliper carrier from the helpful people (Andrew) @ Autolink £22.44 incl p&p, so happy that the back end will be back together, as soon as the postman does his stuff, and the clean up / paint dries (hoping some red is left in the can, to touch up the dings).

Didn't need to trim any of the cavity wall insulation foam from the steering wheel, so fitted. This wheel is just for the IVA.

In your pic of the caliper was it just for the pic or is it fully assembled now let touch up. If so I didn't see any pad hardware installed to keep pads in place and not rattle around..

Good point, it's been a few years since disassembly, I'll have to dig them out, or buy new.

The springs were fitted, but not the retaining clips, which I found. BUT One end don't fit the brake pad, the retainer is to wide for the pad, see below.... But this end fit, tabs are different designs....? Mine have two slots on each end of the pad But looking at auto link, they have one slot on each end, not two as mine. www.autolinkmx5.com/brake-pads-mx-5-mk25-sport-rear-standard-6539-p.aspHave I managed to get the wrong pads ?

Removed my first attempt at making a footwell firewall. Got a fresh piece of aluminium, and this time some cardboard to make a template.

Red5,
Thanks, if I can't get it to work with the rigid solution, I'll probably go that way.
Any on my rear brake issues ? (The in-laws are arriving soon, so I'll have to get out of the garage soon...!)

Thanks to Andrew at Autolink, I've leant something new today, the big brake / 276mm calipers have the 4 ‘fingers’ on the back (these distinguish them from the standard calipers). See picture, showing the four fingers in the casting... The pads I've bought for the big brake calipers, are these www.autolinkmx5.com/brake-pads-mx-5-mk25-sport-rear-standard-6539-p.aspFingers crossed, on four wheels next weekend....
