It is hard to say with the 1 picture but you may have your stock shock mount installed at a different angle than me in the shock spacer. I just looked at mine and I have a full finger thickness between the upper A arm and the coil-over on the closest inside point. Maybe 15-20mm.

Thanks zeitgeist, I will take a look at it a little later today to see if I can adjust and or rotate them to increase the clearance. If I can't I will post a few more pictures, maybe you or someone with more knowledge can see what I did wrong.

zeitgeist , I was able to rotate the shock mount (IE top hat) and it gave me about 12-15 mm of clearance. I believe that will be enough to call it good. Additionally adjusting the alignment may give me a bit more as it is pretty far off at the moment. I received my replacement shock bushings in the mail today, so I should be able to finish up the suspension tomorrow night. @california Exocet owners, I have an appointment on Friday morning with the California DMV to start the SB100 process. If anyone from California is willing to chime in, I had a few questions on paperwork before I go. I'm hoping to be over prepared to make it as painless as possible. What did you put for the following forms/sections? REG 343 - Application for Registration: Section 1: - Leave these blank?VIN Make, Model, Year Section 4: - Leave these blank?Odometer Reading Section 6: Cost information? REG 5036 - Statement of Construction: Section 3: Component Part(s) information
I don't have bill of sales for any of my parts. I discarded the original for my donor after I registered it over a year ago. I'm pretty sure I can find the original registration around my house somewhere. Any idea if I require these? Should I make one from/to myself, or is it better to simply explain in Section 4? REG 256 - Statement of Facts Section G "Statement of Facts"
Not sure that anything else needs to be completed? I'm making fantastic process on the build and I appreciate all the help everyone has given thus far!

Do you know if there are still SB100's available? I've always read they're all gone the first business day of the year, but you can't believe everything you see on the net.

Good to hear you got the shock top alignment figured out for decent clearance Rumm. My alignment by looking at in the garage seemed OK before I went to an alignment shop and found I had almost 1/2" toe in. The curved sides were deceptive to my eyes.

Sorry @nicmpower, I didn't see your message until now. So first a bit of info on how my DMV visit went. After paying them a bunch of money in tax. The DMV refused to give me a number until I visited the CHP and completed a brake and light inspection. They gave me a one-day moving permit so I can get those things completed.. (I doubt I will get it completed in one day, but I'll figure that out later) So since that can't really continue until I have it running. I have put the registration stuff on the back-burner while I continued assembly. So since my last update. I have completed the following: I was able to get my driver side seat installed. I used a sparco double locking slider bracket so I can move it forward and backwards. This should allow for a bit easier entry and exit from the vehicle. After purchasing the seat bracket off of amazon, I noticed that Exomotive started stocking seat brackets in their store for quite a bit cheaper! Maybe I will get slider for the passenger side as well. I installed my steering column, although this sounds like an easy step, it took me a couple hours to get it to fit correctly apparently it had telescoped in slightly while it was tossed around the garage. I ran new hard lines for all of the brakes and the clutch. I really dreaded this part of the build, but after I started I was amazed at how easy it was to get the right bends! I didn't kink any lines. I ran into a small issue with the cheapo flare tool I bought. After flaring a few perfectly. I ran into a streak of about 5 attempts where I could not get a good flare.. Turns out that a small piece of the line had gotten pressed into the flaring tool. I used a pick and pried it out. Afterwards, I used a bit of lubricant on each of the flares and I didn't have another issue. I also ran my fuel line. I previously purchased the flying miata fuel completion kit. It was amazingly simple to install. I ended up removing the fuel line dampener in the engine bay and hooking the line up directly to the rail. I installed a new cam seal, hoping that cleans up the slight oil leak I had from the front of the engine. I installed a flyin miata cross flow radiator. The install went pretty well. The stock fans fit with a slight modification to the shroud. I re-installed the wiring harness, I hope to return to this some day soon to cut it down. First, it is heavy.. Second it is really messy. Finally I was able to start it. Well, after running to get more gas since I had previously siphoned out all of the gas. On first start, the idle was quite rough, the tach didn't work, and the fuel and temp gauges maxed out almost immediately. Very shortly after the check engine light came on. What a rough start.. Well after a bit of investigating (and quite a bit of time looking for the OBDII port. Which I had neglected to pull out of the dash) I found that the check engine light was related to a high input voltage for the fuel gauge. I found 3 grounds that I had missed. I connected these up and gave it another go. At this point the idle was much smoother, all gauges were working, and the check engine light was gone. I took it down the road and back just to see if it would make it. This revealed more problems. The rear brakes are rubbing quite a bit. I will need to return to those when I install the parking brake. Today I installed my headlights and turn signals (shown below). I also picked up a 3->2 wire tail-light conversion kit from autozone so I could hook up my tail/brake lights. I haven't completed the install yet, but I was able to get the wiring mocked up. My brake and tail lights work great. Unfortunately this brings me to my next problem. My turn signals (and flashers) are not working. I have a feeling this is related to either the flasher "module"/relay or another missing ground. Anyone else run into this problem? After installing the headlights, I just had to lay the hood on top to see how it looked. It feels great to see it all starting to come together.

Not sure that anything else needs to be completed? Figured I would post a follow-up to some of my questions after I went to the DMV. Hopefully this will help a few future CA owners. REG 343 - Application for Registration: Section 1: VIN - Leave this field blank Make, Model, Year -> Exomotive Exocet Roadster (Left year blank) Section 4: Odometer Reading - Leave this field blank Section 6: Cost information - Per DMV rep. I filled in my declared value of the vehicle.. IE what I had receipts for.. REG 5036 - Statement of Construction: Section 3: Component Part(s) information Per DMV Rep, this is used to show that the parts aren't stolen. The CHP will follow-up on this. I typed up the history of my parts in Section 4. Not sure if it is really needed as of yet. I will update this after my CHP visit. REG 256 - Statement of Facts - Not needed

If you're interested in seeing if they'll work in your application, they're the ones sold by Corbeau. If you think you can use them I'm happy to let one or both of them go to another builder for a good price.

Rumm good to hear about all the nice progress you have been making. On the flasher issue what year is your donor? I have a 99 and the 4 way flasher and turn signals are connected. If the 4 way flasher switch is not plugged in the turn signals won't work. Check this and the wiring between the two. I accidentaly cut 2 wires during the great wire purge of 2016 and had to re-run them to get my turn signals and 4 ways working again. Orange and purple wires IIRC. Check the wire diagram for your year donor for how they run and the correct colors. Also if you already had ground issues check those first or you may end up chasing your tail trying to figure it out. Good luck

After reading your message I came to the realization that the 4 way flasher is part of the "radio" harness which I didn't spend a ton of time hooking up.. I just went out to look at it and in under 2 minutes my flashers are working correctly. Woot! Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I'm headed to the store to buy a hole saw now. I need to cut a roughly 112mm hole in the body work for the tail lights. And another slightly smaller hole for the fuel filler that I'm having a hard time identifying where exactly to cut. :/ I'm a bit nervous over this part. But super excited. After I complete these I'm pretty much ready to try the CHP and DMV again.

It took 4 hours but I was able to get my tail lights and license plate holder mounted. I also cut a hole for the fuel filler, it went much better than I had expected.

Made quite a bit more progress over the last couple days. Passenger seat - check Windshield - check Reverse lights - check Hood - check It still isn't road legal. Waiting on appointments now. Anyone know if I can schedule my brake & light inspection before I meet with the CHP? I have quite a few tasks remaining. The tunnel although mounted, is an awful fit. I'm planning to cut a couple inches off the front so it should fit better. I also need to attach the lower side panels..
