Loads of work done over last couple of weeks and proper update overdue. Quick snippet below of passenger side, happy with my hinge covers and general fit given it’s the first time I have ever tried to make an interior. by -Tojeiro 74-Carpets are in with a local company for edge overlooking, as edge binding was one sewing task too far. IVA application completed and supporting documents prepared, going to submit this week and hope for test date sometime in Feb or early March. Will try and post a proper update soon.

*** IVA booked for 12th Feb *** at least the to-do list is getting shorter.
Hopefully get a pass first time or early March to give time for finishing touches before Spring.
Bit concerned on emissions as the donor had not had an MOT for a few years so no idea on state of the CAT. May try and get it to a local MOT station for a pre-test check but time will be tight as I am away on business 2 weeks in Jan.
No trailer or even towbar so going to have to hire someone/something to get it to test. Thought about driving to the test but don't like the idea of being stranded at the station if something goes pear shaped and weather in Feb is no doubt going to be rotten.
Looking to hire a recovery truck for a couple of days to do the job, getting some quotes at the moment.

Try AnyVan website mate, they have car transporters/trailers with drivers at really really good rates.
Loving your build, need to finish the Exocet around Feb/March and will be building one of these next !

Cheers I’ll give it a try. Prefer self drive because test stars at 8am and it’s a 1hr drive to get there. When I picked up the kit I used a driver and trailer and they were 1hr late.
Spent more time building rather than posting recently but here are a couple of glamour shots in meantime.

Almost finished upper panel, split it into 2 to make it easier for alignment/bending. Now it’s cut to size I’ll rivet it together before trimming.

The foam in my pair of £70 cheap IVA use bucket seats was completely shot so I decided to strip them entirely and just save the steel frame .

I already had a batch of seat foam in the loft from some old outdoor seat cushions (another great justification for hoarding old stuff) I cut of the extra shoulder supports to make them fit as far back as possible and trimmed them with £15 roll end of black vinyl picked up at NEC classic.

The rails on these seats are about 80mm wider than my Intatrim seats so I designed my seat brackets in such a way that the mounting holes are offset and by reversing the brackets I can have 290mm centres or 210mm centres but using the same hole in the chassis rail and on the same centreline. I actually angled the seats very slightly to get the headrest closer to centreline of body hump.

I bought the gearshift surround from Europa but could not find the right size for the handbrake so a cut out a piece of spare stainless with my air nibblers and then filed the final shape. Bought a £10 eBay metal polishing kit and polished it for couple of hours to get a good shine. Made up the gaiters using my sewing machine and offcuts from dash suede.

And edge bound by local company for £30. Went for a silver thread for a bit of contrast.

As mentioned before I used foam garage mating on top of my Dynamat to bring up the floor to the same level as the chassis crossmembers.

Great work.
Tried to get a better look at the seat bracket but flickr denies me access to the photo., any chance you could PM me photo? Seat bracket/fixing has been taxing me as I don't really want to drill through to underside of body.

Bearing in mind all the covering you've done are you moving to a warmer, less wet, country?

Not at the moment, one reason I have 4 heater vents 😀
Future life plans are a move to the Lake District which probably is just as wet as East Kilbride.
We did have a fabulous spring/summer/autumn this year, just hoping for something similar.
Couple of bungs in the floor for worst case.

One of probably many IVA questions over next month For the manufacturers plate, does this info have to be inside a “clearly defined rectangle” or is that only if you have extra info on the plate. by -Tojeiro 74-I could etch a rectangle around the text with my dremel if needed.

Got my insurance sorted today with APlan - £142 fully comp with £100 excess. Includes pre IVA cover for pre-booked work (pre MOT checks).
For IVA itself I have managed to book with a local recovery company who will come with low loader, 6:30am will get us to the church on time and he will come back at the end of test. This will let me drive my Landrover filled with the contents of my garage to the test station.
Only couple of very small jobs to do then final checks on edges, wiring and recheck all bolt torques. Hopefully the CAT is OK and it passes emissions or there could be a very quick changeout needed a week before test.

The red leather one is not fitted, just placed in at the moment to show the future plan.
Also probably marginal for IVA as the headrests won’t comply when in the lowest possible position. Also wanted to keep them clean while I finish off the rest of the build.
After IVA I need to go back and wire in new seats as they are heated, just ran out of time at the moment.
