Hi, the tank brackets are welded on vertical but they will need tweaking to match the angle of the sides of the grp, you will see the sides of the grp are not vertical. Bending the brackets in slightly will position them correctly for the tank holes but only if the filler is behind the driver. No welding is required. The MKII tank is larger capacity than the MKI Seat runners need the 4 large pins cutting off the bottom and the ends bending flat. Hole centres are 400mm for MKI MX5 runners. Radiator brackets need to be offered up and clamped in conjunction with fitting the MKI radiator. Those of us with MK2 donors have to weld on extra bits to to the seat runner bars then to allow for the extra length and move the brackets for the MK2 tank? not to my knoledge

Hi guys ref the rad bracket , I to have a mk1 rad and the MEV rad bracket. I found if you bolt bracket on without rad fitted the bonnet will foul on bracket but if you fit brackets to the rad there is a 10mm gap between brackets and uprights . I offset rad to the drivers side and that seemed to allow bonet to clear bracket but still sit evenly on side bars. I packed the gap with washers so I could adjust the packing until I got the offset right Hope this helps

Battery query:
Is it possible or prudent to get a smaller battery? Maybe a motorcycle one or similar? Just thinking of weight and space/mounting options.

I'm sure it must be possible - the racing peeps won't want to lug a full size Halfords-special around - give your local battery specialist a call with the spec?

A little annoying as the MK1 and MK2 are different frames but at least I think my welder will work on this now so hopefully easy to sort out.

Thinking of looking for a trailer but wondered what the new width of the MEV would be front and rear with the wheel spacers? Assuming 35mm wheel spacers?
I'm looking at aftermarket standard sized tyres that the MK2 came with.
