If you use small filter on cam cover cap the port on the intake tube the hose goes to.. You don't have an AFM you have a MAF.. That is the square unit bolted on the air box and intake tube. Measures air going into intake you must use it.. The other plug on the side of the air box is the air temp sensor this must also be in the intake air flow.. FYI if you do clean the MAF ONLY use MAF cleaner and don't touch the wire in it.. Note markings on top of MAF which side the air comes into it. If you use an after market intake tube put on in same direction..

damn, that means trying to find an after market air filter that I can somehow hash the air temp sensor too. It's only a piece of plastic inside so no idea how it gets an accurate reading?

If your filter has a wide enough rubber lip drill a hole in it and push temp sensor into it..That is what I did to mine. Works a treat..

Something else that now buggs me is the after market installed alarm system. It looks like they have cut at least 2 wires and soldered in 2 others that run to the control box. (below) If I cut these off and re-join the originals and then trace and cut the rest out where they join the loom. would this be expected to work as normal again? There is a single very thin wire (bottom pic) that comes off the underside of the steering and I have no idea where that goes to? (It's loose but just looks like it goes in that block)

Is there a name on the alarm system if so Google it for wire print out.. That looks like the turn single connector and the cut wires go to the front and rear turn signal lamps.. Do your turn lamps work now.. I would splice them back together and then trace all other wires from the aftermarket unit to see if/what is cut into OEM harness then look for matching color wire around cut to put together. Keep a drawing and location of all work and pics if you can to refer back to it needed..

The top end is right under the steering column in the white plastic block but the other end goes nowhere. Looks dirty and unused, not cut or broken. I've looked at the miata wiring diagrams online (34 odd pages) and can't see what this green and yellow? wire is for. Only possibility i think is that it might be the horn? From the pics above, could it be right next to what was the air bag plug? Cheers

Horn wires G/O Air Bag Y/R Both go through the Clock switch under steering wheel and out to the harness.. What does the white connector plug into are there any wires it connects to under the ign. switch in the black plastic piece..

I think then that the green wire in that whit plug is the horn wire but need to check the alarm wiring diagram to tell. The other black plug must be for the airbag bits as I can't find the plug for it for the life of me. Hoping I didn't jack it off when taking the loom out and before labelling

Hi there, did you manage to find it at all? Even if it doesn't fit yours the picture of it could be very useful as I struggle to get stuff trial fitted. Many thanks Richard
