@ thefreak: your more than welcome to pop over for a nose and a spin if your about after work one evening. The garage is a mate of mines, who helped drop the lump in, up in kingswood bristol. May very well have been him. I'm supposed to be heading over to Castle Coombe for a track day in mid september as well. fingers crossed for the weather!

Small world Well, I started the build last night. Took most of the evening to remove the rear lights, bumper and mudflaps! Must get a build thread going

Looks great with the dark rims andvthat silver trim off the side panels. Like the stainless bolts too! It's all in the details. Bit of tyre slick and paint those hubs and you're done!!

I agree with andy888, looks a lot better with the silver chequer panels removed and the black wheels. I still think that the wheels are slightly too big tho, i think for a handling purposes these should have 15" wheels on 16 at the most, but does still look very nice. Im jealous i cant start my build yet until i have finished my new workshop. I will be starting my thread soon which is going to include my workshop build . Quick question tho, did you buy the lighting kit as an extra or make up your own lights. Still think the only thing that needs reworking is the rear lights.

I mentioned Julies rear lights to Sylv at the weekend and we agreed it was a smoother way of doing them. Think I'll be adding those to the list on the order

Nice one, they look the same as ours but without the branding. Should sit nice and low now.

sadly the mk2 top mounts ive ordered havent turned up so cant fit them. done some research and when fitted the lower spring completely compresses. anyone got any idea what the point of a totally compressed spring is? maybe for potholes or bumps where the shock extends rather than compresses??

sorry chaps, not been to good at answering the questions of late!! @ andy888 new disks on order so the hubs will be done!! @ h5ngs bought the full lighting kit but asked stiggy to swap the headlights lights over for the 'Photon' set that were on the original orange and blue demo. only downside is that they dont have a built in side light and the dip main beam runs from the same bulb. mx5's have a different bulb for main and dipped. so you have to rig up a power supply from the wipers to operate the main beam shutter. he also sold me left hand drive lights, but that was an easy fix swapping the focus back to front. i ended up putting a strip of LED lights on as side lights
i do like the lights in the wings. do you sell the wings like this now?

finally got some decent weather (and time) to fit the new shocks. Fairly easy job with a minor bit of grinding on the top front wishbones, as the dampers are slightly wider and contacted. the secondary softer spring stays almost fully compressed, seems to mainly soak up potholes and any dips. works well. the springs are slightly softer too, so the whole car feels a lot more comfy but still great in corners. height adjustable, so i'll have to play with that to get the right setting.

Good job, but looks like you could drop the front a lot more and get that nose sitting nicely down.

plenty of room for a bit more drop, figured id see if the springs settle a little first and then st up the ride height. when i dropped the car 40mm on the old shocks it was catching on bumps and potholes, so happy medium of 20mm drop i thought. this is only about 10mm drop at the mo. took your advice and stuck on some new discs whilst i was at it, so no more rusty bits!!
