I have finally got the chassis booked in for powder coating in 2 weeks time so I am currently busy doing all the last bits of welding I wanted to get done. Added 2 additional braces to act as the mounting point for my bonnet clamps, 1 on each side: Extra exhaust mount is on there now I wasn't sure what to do about mounting points to run the wiring loom along. So to be on the safe side I am using lots of small cable tie guides, these are tiny cast steel, really handy as I have used them on other projects. They basically leave you with a small grove on the bottom that a small cable tie goes through for fixing wiring down, they help tidy and give a clean look: Really looking forward to starting to assemble it all now!

Those cable tie guards look like a great idea. I assume they are bought in rather than hand made... If so any chance you could post a link to where I can buy some...

They are for bicycle frames - one of my other hobbies! In the link below they are art.200. Just email that company saying how many you want, Peter normally replies the same day. www.framebuilding.com/Braze%20ons.htm20 work out about £16 including postage and vat, not the cheapest things but really handy.

Tabs for the fuel/brake lines fitted: Crush tubes for the seat mount points welded: Floor panels cut and lined up ready for fitting: Car goes in for powder coating on Monday. I went for Neon yellow in the end, apparently its a powdercoat base with 2 layers of wet paint over the top. Looking forward to seeing it complete now.

Random question, in the kit from MEV I was supplied a roll of copper, is this brake line size? I am assuming it is not fuel line?
Thanks

I had brake line and fittings in my kit. No fuel line.

+1... a short length of brake line - maybe enough for the bit across the rear subframe.

Thanks for that. I decided to go with the slightly lazier route and bought braided fuel and brake lines. Bit more money but I think they were quicker to fit than copper, did not work out daft money either. Chassis is now painted in Neon Yellow powder. They powdercoat the item white first and then paint it again with a liquid based powder coat in the neon colour. It is then clear lacquered: Hoses fitted to the chassis. With the tabs I welded on I managed to get them all a good inch clear of the floor pan: I had them powder coat the floor black whilst they had the chassis, really didnt like naked alloy look:

Looking good. Watch out for the issue of there being very little space at the rear of the tunnel when you mate the chassis and ppf - it'd be easy to catch those hoses in the process. The ppf-earth & the loom all head through the same small space.

Nice color. Wanted Neon Yellow for my chassis as well but the sample my shop had was way more 'green' than yellow. Yours turned out great!

Thanks, really pleased with it myself!
I know this has been done to death, but wheel spacers. Does anyone know of somewhere to get a decent set for under £100? I have seen all the mega cheap ones and read the horror stories. The alternative just seems the other end of the spectrum!

It is your butt in the seat.. What is it worth? Saving a few quid and maybe loosing a wheel.. Safety first please..

Thanks Gwnwar. I think I have fallen into the trap a few people have. With the original MX5 wheels being quite light I got them refurbed thinking it would save some cash. Now with the wheel spacers working out quite expensive and needing new tyres it makes more sense to buy new wheels completely.
Will bite the bullet and contact freaky parts I think, the eibach ones are coming out at £260!

Does anyone have a photo of their drivers footwell alloy panel? I'm just looking at mine now and it's laughable how it's completely the wrong shape.
It would be good to visualise how it's supposed to fit.
All these daft little jobs are starting to grate a little!
Thanks
