Hi Am I right in thinking you have braided brake lines running font to back? Someone please correct me but I believe that will lead to some spongy pedal feel? Just my opinion.

I have the braided line kit from Stuart at Freaky Parts, no spongy pedal feel at all, and custom color to match the rest of the car. Works a treat.

I did the whole hard line replacement kit, including the clutch line. This kit came with everything you need to replace all the copper hard lines including the front to rear and clutch. It was £165 including delivery from Stuart at Freaky Freaky Parts. Saves a lot of time and hassle not having to buy and use a flaring tool and bending tool for the copper pipe, as well as having to buy the associated fittings. I pinned all my lines to the PPF, and with them being flexible it made the job a lot easier.

Perfect, thanks! That is a massive help. With regards to the braided lines. I asked a couple of people who know more than me and was told they would be fine. As has been said, they look smart and make running them a lot easier/quicker.

Does anyone know whether I could IVA the car with one seat fitted? I only bought one and it just seems another expense to buy a second and fit for IVA.
I could just fit the passenger later this year then!

This may seem like a daft question but does the handbrake connect to the electrics? I cannot seem to see a plug to connect it? I assumed it does but when. I've fitted it there is nothing.
Thanks

The hand brake is a ground source. there is a small spade fitting on the rear of the handle.. The wire for it is a single wire. On the donor it came out under the radio and ran under center console next to the shifter to the hand brake unit.. It is the same color of wire that goes to brake fluid level sensor (not the black wire the other one).. maybe blue/yellow or red.

Has anyone had issues with the front fender mounts hitting the top wishbone? The passenger side fits perfectly but the drivers side will not clear it.
I'm going to measure up today but I have a suspicion it may have been welded differently.

Crush tubes for the seat mount points welded. Hey @mikeeboy. Are these seat mounts threaded, and if so, does that mean you don't need a Nyloc underneath? Mine's already coated, so can't weld crush tubes in so I'm a bit confused as to how I fit them, and how crush tubes would stay in place.

No, they are literally a piece of solid steel that I turned down on a lathe. Due to laziness I only have a drivers seat fitted so I would not be able to weld the passengers in in future. The bolt just pushes through them and I made some large square washers out of steel plate to act as a washer to spread the load.
One thing I will say is that the point of the crush tube may be negated on the newer chassis as the seat mount box section is only 20mm. So if you have an M12 bolt, the crush tube potentially makes it to M16 sized hole at the top. You almost end up drilling the entire of the top side of the box section out to fit the crush tube.
I think when I fit the passengers I will not use a crush tube but make some more 40mm x 40mm plate washers and put them either side to spread the load a bit.
I do not believe crush tubes are an IVA requirement.

Hmm, you're right the box section is 20 x 20, so how would I get a 20mm diameter cylinder/tube in there without further compromising the wall integrity? If you put a 40 x 40 mm washer below, don't you risk bowing the floor out, or do you mean fixing the lower one on the exterior floor surface?

Yes, I have put them on the outside so the bolt goes through box section, ally floor then 40mm plate the nyloc.
When i welded mine in that is why i ended up with 16mm bar which i just bored a 12mm centre through, that was as big as i dared go.

I am just looking at fuel filler solutions now. I had thought it would be pretty straight forward but I seem to be getting confused with the breather / venting side of it. My plan was to blank off the charcoal filter on the top. This leaves on the MX5 tank the large fuel filler pipe and then the smaller breather just above it. If you look at this item from car builder solutions, it has the breather pipe on it it: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272162647500?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITBut in addition it also has a smaller vent. In the item above would that smaller vent need attaching to the charcoal canister hole in the original tank? Thanks
