Good stuff! Im very interested to see how your gearbox and diff mounting is done. Keep up the good work!

The diff will just be the V8 roadster kit. They have it very dialed in, no need to reinvent the wheel there.
I'll have to see how the trans lines up with the chassis to see how I can mount it. Should be interesting. Waiting on a NC clutch before I can mount it.

If anyone is interested in building their own plate I can write up a bit of how i did it. I know theres a guy online selling them for ~600 USD. Right now that would be over $1000 CAD after shipping. So far This plate has cost me 60$ in aluminum and 3 jigsaw blades.

Quick question. Does anyone know the angle of the miata transmission output from horizontal?
I have to set the angle of the T2 transmission and I'm just trying to decide where to set it. I'd like to put it up as high as possible for clearance but that may be bad for other things.

The driveshaft universal is there for that reason. Im sure ive read that you dont want the universal dead straight so wouldnt you set the transmission angle to put a minimum amount of angle on the universal, 5deg maybe?

5 deg is actually quite a bit for the engine / trans to rotate which is why im asking.
I don't know where it should sit. The v8roadster kit says to install the diff at 1.5° up. I figured installing the transmission at roughly the same angle as stock should be ok.

The only constraint I found was how high my transmission sat inside the tunnel. I had to loosen the PPF at the transmission and pry it down at the back so my gear stick turret wasn't way up high. This in turn lifted the front of the engine so that the bonnet only just clears the front of the valve cover. I'd measure it for you but Im not sure how I might do this in the car

yeah the height is irrelevant for me as im using a different transmission, i need to know the angle. do you have a digital angle finder?

I have a wife who finds every angle under the sun during arguments...but that wont help here. No I don't sorry.

Welded in some transmission supports. Needs a few more gussets but I can hang off of it without it moving.

So the car is back together. Custom half shafts and axle are in. It's -18°C here right now so I didnt take it outside but it did cover the 3' in my garage quite nicely. It's suppose to warm up here in the near future so I will have to try it out.

After a bit of testing I need to chance the clutch engagement point. Right now to fully disengage the clutch you have to push the pedal all the way to the floor. I'm going to have to move the pivot point for the clutch arm a bit to change this. Shouldn't be too hard to do. Other than that it seems to work so far.
