i always feel bad harassing vendors that i never got work from but its probably the best way.
I've given FM tons of money though....maybe I should harass them.

OK miata guru's I have a head scratcher for you. What would cause this kind of engine ocsilation? This datalog was taken while the car wasn't moving. I was just sitting in the garage attempting to hold the RPM at 2000. The blue line is TPS output, notice it drops occasionally. Originally I thought hey, I have a bad TPS. Easy fix. But if you look at the datalog the RPM starts dropping well before the the TPS reading drops. I'm at a loss as to why at ~ 1800 RPM it does this. Anyone have any ideas?

Where are you picking up these signals? Looks like a 300 RPM surge @ over 1 Hz - can you hear the engine surging?

I'm taking them from the ecu. My ecu has data logging capabilities. I can record 8 things at the same time if something else would help let me know.
It's 300rpm surging, it's very noticeable.

I think it is some sort of tuning issue...which is beyond my skill set. I got a 2001 manifold and a 94 throttle body and fabricated a new intake pipe and the issue goes away.

What does your air fuel gauge look like when you overlap it with the other data? It could be a small lean surge that keeps trying to correct itself.

I haven't had a chance to do a good datalogging session in a while.
I wanted to comment on my oil pressure gage issues from before. The fluttering kept getting worse until the gage would eventually read 0 at idle. This started to worry me a bit so I did what I should have done in the beginning and get a mechanical gage like gwnwar recommend. He was right it must have been some sort of grounding issue. The mechanical gage works fine and I have great oil pressure across the board. I have around 20 psi at idle and high 60's around 4k rpm.
Other things I have installed are the FM upper side panels. The fit is awesome and they block a TON of side wind from coming in the car. The amount of wind in the cabin and engine heat dropped dramatically after installing the side panels. I do have one big disappointment though. I had called FM and asked if they had upgraded their fasteners to SS as I read a review saying they didn't match the exocet lower hardware. Brandon at FM went and checked and told me they are now SS but flange head allen bolts so they look slightly differnet but the hardware is the same colour. The ones I received are not SS. They are plated steel bolts and are very clearly a different colour.

Update on the FM upper side panels. I had a chat with Brandon at FM and he is going to swap out the plated screws in the kit going forward. They will all be SS to match the Exocet hardware going forward.

So I have also now broken a rear fender bracket. My exo has never been to a track. Just some spirited street driving but I guess that is enough in Alberta. Time to build rigid mounts I guess.

My name is Ron and I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I was wondering if you could give me some info on your exocet kit. I am planning to build a basic one next spring and just getting the details for it. Where in Alberta do you live? I don't see a way to PM on this forum?
