nice work Shane, you're catching me up quick! I see you had a donor with steering wheel airbags too, have you sourced an IVA compliant one for the test yet? would be good to see what you were thinking of I did speak to Stuart about that and he advised that airbags are not allowed on IVA at all, so its just a case of swapping the steering wheel with an aftermarket one, then I will probably take the bulb out the cluster for the air bag symbol He also advised from experience to go for a smaller steering wheel no bigger than 320mm as you get better response.

Yes and thanks to Dave/Steve (P5curly) for letting me vent on the phone to them when it didn't go "smoothly" to begin with, its true if you take a break and then go back things tend to work 2nd time round, no idea why lol

Another option for your steering wheel is just to take out the airbag bit and replace it with say vinyl covered foam. I got one through IVA doing that.

I managed to get the throttle cable fitted today along with the brake cylinder, its a nice feeling seeing things go back together! I have a question about the Clutch Slave/Master. I've removed the old copper tube that connected the 2 together as it was about a mile long with all sorts of fancy loops and bends. Is it as simple as using a length of copper brake pipe i have left over to connect the 2 together or is it a different type of pipe? I know freaky parts does a braided hose version too connect the 2 but its is pretty expensive assuming brake pipe is ok to use? Sorry no pictures, i was rained off without warning Next job is to connect the 2 fuel lines to the front fuel rail, just to get it out the way and ticked off then i think Ill attempt the radiator.

Yes same as brake tube. I would still use the rubber hose between tube and slave.. Remember the center most tube from the fuel pump plate is the supply it goes to the front of the fuel rail.. Other is return..

Thanks Gwnwar! Can I ask why it matters to use the rubber hose? Thanks

The engine/trans will move on the mounts, line is mounted solid to frame. You can get a short flex hose/line from MX5 Parts @24.00

Had another couple of hours today and did my first ever flare Ive now connected the fuel lines to the rail, re connected the clutch master to the slave and was going to start connecting the brake lines, unfortunately the fittings I ordered had 1.25mm thread and I needed 1mm so just waiting on ebay now. Just hope I havent F****D up the thread in the Master cylinder trying to get the 1.25 to fit lol Hopefully by the weekend I will have the rad mount from MEV and also the shiny new MK1 rad ive ordered.

Utter bellend comes to mind!
Cut the brake fitting off today that was the wrong thread, re-flared and fitted the new one, guess what it doesn't reach now lol
I've ordered a few 2 way female fittings to extend the pipe, so moved on to fit the stabiliser arm, 2 minute job right? Wrong, cant get the old control link bolt off and I left my grinder at a customers, so onto the next job, try the fuel tank position, guess what the tabs definitely do not line up, after a few bashes on the brackets with a bolster hammer and a block of wood and i think i can get them to line up with he tank turned around (filler drivers side). Not a very productive few hours.
Decided to complete the front end before moving onto anything else as i have a huge list of jobs to complete.
That means:
* Sort out the dodgy brake line and connect to M/Cylinder * Mount the radiator with MEV brackets, fit hoses * Fit Stabiliser arm and new control links * Fit Suspension * Fit 2 x Brake hose support brackets * Fit caliper, disks and wing stays * Route and fit front brake lines * Fit radiator expansion tank * Fit new air filter
Thats everything off the top of my head (It really does help to write stuff down as my brain has been hurting trying to remember everything!)

Update... Received the new MK1 Rad and brackets from MEV. Unfortunately its not a ready made solution, although not much work is needed. As you can see on the photo the holes on the brackets are just off, I need to make the top hole (left of photo) oval shaped to allow the bracket to slide down a little so that the bracket doesn't catch on the rad and the bottom hole (right of picture) will line up, hopefully I wont need to start bending anything. Not a huge deal but just so expectations are realistic, its not a straight bolt on job, however I think it should be?
