Well I have finally started the build! First 3 hours down and it seems like an eternity to go, but I can now see how much fun its going to be! Image below of current progress, I under estimated how difficult removing the dashboard was going to be, still stuck on something, will be tackling it the weekend, i'm sure it is something obvious!

Hi Shane,
I just took the dash off my '92 US donor today and had trouble also getting it. It's unclear from your picture, but you may have a small 2 inch square removable cover right in the middle of the dash up by the window. Pull that off and you'll find a 10mm bolt. That stumped me for about an hour. You probably also have to remove the bolts from the steering column if you haven't already.
Best of luck, Christian

Yes, i got the bolt on center of dash by windscreen, it seems to be held tight at the center console, need to get back and have another good look!

Best of luck, Christian I threw a fit when I found out that little hidden 10mm bolt was what caused all the trouble. Additionally getting the little square off drove me mad and wouldn't come off easily at all haha.

long extension and socket through hole in windshield works if you are not selling the windshield.

Or 1/4" socket with adaptor and 7mm spanner to turn it. You only need to crack it then you can turn it by hand. Got Sylv to take ours out. Smaller fingers

Finally got the dash off today! Not as easy as the build guide makes out Next step i think is to remove steering wheel and rack then onto some external body work removal

Quick question, im sure i have read some where on the forum about the imobiliser accidentally being thrown away with the dash, I must admit I haven't come across one? Have I missed it?
Is there anything else I need to be mindful of at this particular stage? Thanks guys!

I believe it is attached to to dash itself so could be that you don't have one....mine didn't. I must admit I loved every minute of the stripdown. Did you label the two earths either side of the dash when you removed them.

I must not of had one then, Thanks Dave! I didn't label the earths as i thought i would remember what they were, black wire with a loop connector = earth I am really enjoying the strip down, im surprised how quick this part is going so far as im only 4 hours in, i suppose putting it back together is the big challenge

Another productive few hours!
Wiring nearly ready to be pulled in from engine compartment!
Think I went over the top with the labeling as you can see form the cable ties on each connector, hopefully it will help on the rebuild!
Next up, mechanical work, should be fun as I have already had a few bolt heads snap off on me and that was under the bonnet where they were clean and dry!

Nearly at the first milestone!
All stripped and ready for the Chassis lift tomorrow!
I think I have brought the rustiest MX5 around, its been a right nightmare, the 2 large bolts under rear arches holding the chassis on has snapped (the bolt/threaded part) so im hoping once I start to lift I can knock it off!
The only other issues I have had is the front flexible break hose was rusted onto the bracket that bad I had to disconnect it at the caliper and will need to by new ones!
The expense is adding up quickly but im still enjoying it!
A word of advice for anyone starting their build, buy lots of ""Plusgas" and a 24" Breaker bar is definitely needed!

Drop me a message when you're ready to sort the brake hoses out. We can supply either a complete hard pipe replacement kit using stainless steel braided hoses throughout, or a flexi line replacement kit in any colour you like. We can also supply a short clutch replacement hose which bypasses the long hard pipe and pig tale to the slave cylinder.
