Hi all,
Long time reader and 2+ year Exocet fan, and excited that I just got off the phone w/ Keith @ Flyin Miata and placed my order for my Exocet. Sport frame with steel floors, double diagonal on the rollbar, APR mount & wing, and aluminum wiring tray. Will likely also be getting the shock spacers, and am going to price out building similar versions of the fuel & brake lines myself. I have assembled AN fittings before, so am going to see what the markup is to see if it is more cost effective to do it myself.
My donor is a 99 Emerald Green w/ Leather package. Shocking, I know to see another green NB1 donor. The car currently has a 6 speed swap (but still the 4.3 Torsen) koni sport shocks w/ koni sleeves and swift springs, an FM Happy Meal w/ the 10# flywheel, 8" 949 6ULs w/ 205 Kuhmo v720s, and a racing beat 1.25" front sway. I bought the car last year and autocrossed it in ES, and have been making the other upgrades this spring & summer, and am hoping to get it back together for an event this weekend.
Future plans for the car include the Trackspeed turbo kit with a BW EFR6258 turbo, running on e85 w/ a MSPNPPRO ECU, but I will get it running NA first to eliminate any issues from new parts.
Hope to update with a chassis # as soon as I get it.
Thanks!
Rich

Oh, and I will be working to get the Exocet classed in SCCA's DM & EM classes, and plan to campaign the car in EM next year.

Finally moving into the tear-down phase. I am giving my tub to a friend who is going to build an F Prepared SCCA Solo car using a Mazdaspeed engine. He wants to be able to drive it to local events when the weather is decent, so in order for him to be able to register it, he needs to put the car in his name while it is whole. So, he and another friend came and picked up the miata yesterday, and on Thanksgiving weekend, we are going to tear it all down at his house (he has lift, which should be very handy).

The BMV wanted the title to my donor. You may want to check on that before you give it away.

The BMV wanted the title to my donor. You may want to check on that before you give it away. He's giving me a bill of sale for the non-tub parts, which will specify the VIN on the engine & tranny, so I should be covered.

Got to talk w/ Kevin Patrick, the owner of Exomotive, today at the PRI show. He is trying to get the schedule set so that I can pick up my chassis on January 2, when I will be traveling back from a week in SC. Very much looking forward to that!

So the timing didn't work out to pick it up on 1/2, but I was able to go down last Saturday and do so. Was a long day, but made it back to Indiana without issue. Definitely glad I didn't make the trip this weekend, since part of I-75 that I drove on in mid-upper 40 last weekend was apparently closed due to the snow and accidents yesterday. I also was able to borrow my dad's F350 SuperDuty to tow from southern IN to Atlanta and back, which is nice since it is much better for the job than my 08 Pilot (which is adequate for the job, but I doubt I would have been able to run 72 on cruise through the Smokies). This week I only managed to get out and open up the boxes to see what was in there, and yesterday I had some family obligations and date night w/ the wife, so didn't start doing anything in earnest until today. Got the front kick panels in - passenger side required much more massaging, and the horizontal holes in the middle of the passenger panel were drilled too low and the bend was actually too low also, but I got the rivets in, so I think it will work. I used a wire brush cup on my drill to scuff up the panels, and used Right Stuff gasket maker between the panels and frame. I also started splitting the engine and transmission from my newer motor (JDM VVT engine) so I can swap over my FM Happy meal. Also pulled the header and PS pump and A/C compressor. I will have to get the header flange cut and either rotated or replace with V Band flanges (which is what I am leaning towards right now). My hands are still cramped from the rivets, the cheap rivet gun I have had for over 10 years is not the easiest to use. Hoping to get back out after dinner and get the new engine on the roller skate so I can get it mounted to the frame this week.

Get an air rivet gun from Ebay or put 2 pieces of pipe onto your hand rivet gun might help.
