You most likely missed the click on the wrench..You can tighten down with a ratchet held way down by the ratchet end with force like a screwdriver.. If you get an inch lb wrench make sure it goes that low of torque..

For the occasional light torque you can is a fish scale (spring balance) and a wrench, if your wrench is 6" long you will need to pull 16 lbs on the scale to get 8 ft lbs of torque. Also a good way to check the calibration on your torque wrench.

I just sent out the suspension and cradles for blasting and powder coating, it should be done early next week. Also I'm heading up to Wisconsin tomorrow to pick up another transmission.
Not much to update besides that.

Just picked up these, I wasn't expecting my powder coating to be done in one day. I also picked up another 5 speed last night since mine has a bad 3rd gear synchro. I'm waiting on the transmission seal kit and then everything is going to be put back together.

Does anybody see any problems with me building the exhaust before I get the exocet chassis? I just got my header and I want to build the rest of it since it's all open right now. Has anybody done this, or am I just asking for issues when it comes time to mate the PPF and the chassis?

You will probably want the chassis so you can check clearances.

I got a lot done in that past few days, I deleted the power steering, and welded the pinon. I also completed the PPF, all ready for the chassis to be mounted. I'm going against the popular opinion, and I'm going to mock up the exhaust. I have seen plenty of pictures, and I'm fairly confident I can tack it together, worst case I tear it apart and start over, not the end of the world. I used to be into jeeps, and I noticed that the newer JK jeep wrangler (2007-present) has an exhaust that will fit perfectly onto the Exocet. I ordered one, and I think I can make it work, it was only $117 shipped and its stainless steel.

Enjoying watching your build. You seem to be a little ahead of me I'm kit 157. I am interested to see your exhaust and what you do for seats, as I'm 6'6". We're you told when your kit would be ready or just guessing December-January like the rest of us?

I have zero idea when mine will be ready, I don't even know my chassis number, Flyin Miata never sent me any info on it.
I'm 6'7" (34x38 pants), and I have been looking at a few seats. The main ones are Kirkey road race, or pro street. I am also looking at the Bride Low max since they are the lowest of the fiberglass type seats.

I made a few modifications to the chassis not only to get myself low enough, but also to get myself in safely. It was worth the extra time/expense IMO when you're dealing with a safety issue like seat mounting. I'm 6'6"
