Was that automotive safety glass I am about to get my piece cut, but will be running a 'full surround' frame, so maybe this won't be an issue in my case, but interested none the less. No choice on material here in Ohio - you have to use DOT approved laminated glass to pass inspection (with a wiper, of course!).

I think 1/2 lexan would work well, and should fit and not flex as much.

It broke when I drove over a decent sized bump in the road. It wasn't from wind force, but shock from the bump. I just purchased a piece of 3/8" Lexan MR10, we will see how this holds up.

Lexan would be my first choice for a number of reasons, but can't do here (at least until after I get registered)

I received my Lexan in today, so I decided to chop it up. I was surprised how nice this stuff cut compared to acrylic, no chipping at all. I am also impressed how strong it is, I could not break it even if I folded it over on its self. I opted for the Marguard, it is very tough to scratch it. Here is the mess after I got done with the cuts, pretty messy. Here is the finished product.
