Oh man that sucks after all the work you put into that engine.

Heads are okay minus some bent valves. Oil pan survived. The motor is kaput.

Going back to the wing mount post - looks like you drilled the existing reinforcement plates and tapped for M8 bolts, right?

Nothing major to report, putting together a list of things for the new engine, hopefully order it tomorrow or friday. This was the only head damage, some superficial stuff outside of the combustion chamber. Got lucky. 6 bent valves, all guides are in great shape though so no issue there. New valves will be in tomorrow.

Also, placed a rather large order today. Parts on the way.

Doing lots of oiling mods this time around, restricted pushrods, link bar lifters to eliminate lifter trays and facilitate drain back, and an improved racing crank scraper with extra windage control slot. Also found room for a lightweight AL flywheel to save 13# off my clutch assembly.

New engine bits slowly trickling in. Link bar lifters to help with oil drainback

New tow rig. Diesel canyon. 30+mpg. Can't complain. Hopefully the new engine will be ready next week.

Let me know how you fair with the truck. Been looking at them since they came out earlier this year.

Tentative oil cooler placement in lieu of the high speed fan that I never had turn on anyway.

In front of or behind rad? Most additional cooling items (air con/power steering/ intercoolers) that I see on production cars are forward for the rad. Is that for a reason?

Yeah it's better to put that out front.

It's going behind. There isn't space in front. Production cars are designed around a low speed window, low frontal opening, and low airflow.
NASCAR puts them behind the radiator, for instance. Surprised about the amount of pushback, but 10 degree warmer air from the radiator isn't going to make a difference.
