Dont have my tr1ke
Have to cancelled going to the track day, RTR have not finished my tr1ke even to a stage where i can use it on the track, despite going over the deadline for having it on the road by two weeks!. Attending the track day in my own tr1ke was my deadline and RTR promised they could do this .
Im sure a big discount and free delivery when they have finished the tr1ke within two weeks, will be offered to compensate for the disapointment and hassle , but its been hard to get a straight answer from them!

Too much work, too little time.
We have been on a mission to get as many cars registered this year as is humanly possible but so often, what seems like a 5 minute job can quickly become a 5 hour job when something refuses to work or fit or function correctly.
The IVA service that we offer has been a great success but it has also been a real challenge with things like hidden weeping brake pipes and faulty lambda probes turning simple jobs into day long forays into fault diagnosis.
We're disappointed that we have not been able to complete this tR1ke as quickly as we had hoped. but as anyone who has worked in a workshop will testify, it is almost impossible to control and anticipate what happens on a daily basis due to the nature of the beasts we are working with.
I'm sure that everyone building their own kit will have experienced the 5 minute job taking all day long phenomena, the only difference at RTR is that in a pro workshop like ours, there are normally several heads being scratched instead of one when things go awry.
RTR.

Firstly I must congratulate RTR for offering the IVA/MSVA service. I would not however take on a part finished car. This usually means all the difficult awkward jobs are left for someone to pick up the pieces. Then when you start making a small bracket to say, mount an unusual expansion bottle you find a lot of time has been consumed. Not a problem if you are in your own shed playing with a bit of alloy, it's all part of the fun. Simple jobs but 10 little awkward jobs (not just a matter of take it out of the box and drop it on) and you have a huge amount of time consumed and a large bill that the customer will choke on. So I avoid those "can you finish it for me, I have no time" jobs. The advise from the owner here is "everyone gets problems, it's how you deal with them" I would have to say that given the request for big discounts, free delivery and time constraint that the solution from me would be to hand it back to the guy that started it. Sorry if that sounds harse but having had 30 years experience of "can you just do..." I know that even with the best will and experience in the world that issues will occur. Surely the whole reason for buying a kit car is to be proud to drive what you have created.

So say it in plain English: You can see the matter as a free training: "Dealing with dissapointments" This case proves that at RTR it are ordinary people who do the job. No Harry Potters, just ordinary people... (Perhaps they have to be a bit less optimistic and a bit more realistic about their planning.) By the way: Perhaps you should also consider to add the "snorkel" option. www.weeronline.nl/Europa/Groot-Brittannie/Nottingham/4175539:-)

So thought i should do a update, The tr1ke stayed at RTR, they did offer to return the tr1ke at no cost when it went over the estimated finish date but we agreed for it to stay some pics from last Tuesday rear exhaust bracket plus handbrake caliper Should be able to see where the handbrake was mounted, creating more space in the centre tunel. Plus the outline of my new gear changer Lights, with side lights on the wing, also indicators that came of my donor bike, i think they all look very good So It went in for its MSVA last Friday but despite Paul pulling an all night session failed on a couple of small bits, mainly i forgot to add a copper washer on the brakes, which im amazed didnt leak! also the handbrake caliper snaped! So a new more substantial one should arive today and then its just when it can get a re-test, which hopefully should be this week (i need a bit of luck with timing) So you never know tr1ke number three should have its reg plate next week, just in time for all this great weather
